Webber summed the situation up very succinctly when he took over. We did not have a single first team, natural, leftback on our books who was available to play for us. On loan Dijks was the only option. A totally ludicrous situation to get into. But, hey, we bought Wildschut.

Some on here suggested that selling 2 of the best left backs in the division at the same time was quite foolhardy especially after Dijks petulant rash ridiculous red card and subsequent suspension leaving us with no left backs.<doh>

Losing Olsson and Brady, and playing Whitaker and Martin alternately at LB because your only semi-orthodox LB is on a season long loan at Scunthorpe was not the sharpest manoeuvre the club have ever made <doh>
You'd like to think with the new recruitment team in place, incidents as ludicrous as that are a thing of the past <ok>
Like selling Jerome and hoping Olivia will play the entire season .

Not 100% sure of the thinking behind loaning Carlton Morris out, then signing Fonkeu and possibly the lad from Leyton Orient Tristan Abrahams.
The prospect of Vrancic and Reed re-igniting midfield (it was getting a little predictable with Howson and Dorrans most weeks) is one of the highlights of the new season for me.
Plus hopefully seeing a defensive unit which has learned to communicate and operate together, rather than 4 individuals. We've not had that for quite some time.

2 robotic German units repelling attacks with efficiency and Gunny 2 should give us an extra 20 odd points.

Trouble is when both Howson & Dorrans played we looked much better.

How nice to hear the voice of reason!
My faith in humanity has been restored after reading this - or at least it would be if Sky, ESPN, BT Sport etc took any bloody notice <ok>

When will Sky admit that most of their ex subscribers don't want to watch Manchester United or Chelsea or Arsenal every other week.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal fans do, and even Manchester City fans might be tempted to tune in with the hope of seeing embarrassing displays and losses, but whilst Sky crow about 'greater viewing figures' for their self created top six sides, well, the rest of the planet doesn't actually care.

(p.s If anyone manages to locate a stream for our game today, I'm all ears <ok>)

Manchester City are back on Uefa's financial fair play watch list after a £220m spending spree this summer. (Sunday Telegraph)

Barcelona will report Paris St-Germain for a breach of Uefa's financial fair play rules if the French side meet Neymar's 220m euros (£197m) buyout clause. (ESPN)

FINALLY! I thought they had just done away with that rule in football.

Well done Lionesses, beaten France to make the Euro semi finals. Are they becoming the new Germany, always finding a way to win and breaking other teams hearts in the process.

Roll on the Netherlands.

At least they're achieving something, however, it's a democracy so you don't have to watch, watch some paint dry instead.

Surely it would only be a loan? It makes no sense to move him out permanently until we've had a good look at him in the first team!
It would make sense to our club. I wouldn't put it past them. Going on past experiences. He's one of those ones who will move on a free, and later move back to the Championship for a million or so.
