May’s announced she’ll rip up human rights laws that will ‘impede new terror legislation’.

All well and good in theory but when will it used against the innocent non terrorists? When will it be used against those who just need to speak out?

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin

Even Peter Hitchens was referencing that in light of what’s happened.

You sure about that.

The new leader in BA is a big mate of Trump's (see WH videos of their recent meeting) If he gets Trump on side and Trump pressures Corbyn. Its gone, believe me.
Yeah there was a piece on the BBC news a year or so ago and the majority of the public had no appetite for it.
One of the candidates was using it to whip up her campaign.
It would be extremely costly in a Country that's a lot less wealthy than here.

It's a shame when threads about incidents get hijacked with politics, but this is a general election thread and therefore is warranted - if not a bit premature.

That's an ideal, not a policy.

Nationalising companies is a ridiculous idea, it there one thing history should have taught us, it's that government are ****ing useless at runnng large organisations and monopolies are a great way to guarantee poor service.

Thatcherite millionaire businessman in anti-nationalisation shock.

Benjamin Franklin wasn't dodging bombers in Manchester and nutters trying to stab people to death..

If he was he'd soon change his tune.

It's all fully costed though so what's the problem? Why would people be against ideas like NHS staff getting a reasonable wage when it's absolutely affordable. When it suits the establishment there's millions and billions lying around to spend on their mates. Were fed this crap that we need to keep corporation tax low or the corporations will all **** off but where are they gonna go? Most other major countries have higher corporation tax than us and even they don't seem to have an issue attracting and keeping business.

It just seems like people are fed this message that we can't have nice things because it isn't possible, but there's plenty of wealth in this country. There's loads of money sloshing about but it's all in the back pockets of a handful of dodgy ****ers.

It's costed based on flawed calculations (maybe Abbott was responsible), the more you increase taxes, the more worthwhile it is for people/companies to work at avoiding them. The last time taxes went up, revenues actually went down.

At the moment, the major multinational corporations like Apple, Amazon, eBay etc do not have their HQ's here, they're in places like Ireland and Luxembourg, where tax rates are lower. We've been lowering ours to try and compete and rightly so.
