the more I see him I remember he does have something, I just hope we see it on a consistent basis. Very decent back up, could be a shout for most used sub next season if there's a bet on that i'm taking it!

I actually can't believe how young he is, I thought he'd be like 25/26. 22 is a very good age for a pacey winger - still time to teach what to do after he's used his pace. As opposed to Jonas, where all that hope is gone.

Highlight of that for me is Rooney falling over the ball.

Obertan isn't a good signing. Hope i'm wrong if we sign him.

We're currently top of page 6 on google when you search "Gabriel Obertan Newcastle"

If a mod wanted to change the thread title to something like "Gabriel Obertan to join Newcastle", that would be dandy. Do a bit of fishing for toon fans.

One thing I have noticed from all of these videos is that he doesn't cross the ball in the air, much prefers to put it along the ground across the box or work his way into it. Saying that this may just be man utd's style of play as they're not exactly a crossing and heading team. We'll have to wait and see!

Fergie does not sell decent players!! I am sure I have heard that a lot over the last couple of months.... then when you sign one so so many posts "hey he could turn out to be a bargain" or "give the lad a chance he could be a good signing" posting youtube videos just to make you all have a little bit of hope. We sign O'Shea and Brown and they are ****e etc ect Hmmmmmm

I don't tend to give grief on here or tend to take the piss infact had some canny chats with some decent people on this board but sometimes you just have to tut! ;-)

The difference between Obertan and Wes Brown/John o'shea is.... well 7 and 9 years to be precise. Brown and O'Shea have no chance of ever being good. Obertan on the other hand has time to get better. The funny thing about all this is that they've been handed contracts of the same length!

I think the biggest criticism of O'Shea and Brown was that they're past-it and surplus to requirements. You've picked up SAF's old rope at the end of their careers but you're right in that they could offer a lot to any team outside the top 4. Obertan is only 22 and never got a look in thanks to the likes of Nani and Valencia so it's a far more exciting, albeit just as risky, signing.

Fantastic player. He has literally everything. I'm surprised there wasn't another zero in the price tag. Needless to say I'm ecstatic.

Fergie sold Pique and Rossi who've proved to be great players (admittely in a different league)
