Don't forget we need a boo boy for this season. So far Quinn is looking favourite but with some of the ****ing idiots on here the whole teams is up for it!!!

What the **** is up with you guys. It's possible to think that we have a good enough squad that Quinn might not start. That's positive in my eyes. I love Quinn but there are better players for all positions than him right now.

Jesus. All this ****ing whining because I dared to say I'd buy two new central-midfielders and have Quinn on the bench.

I noticed that Chazz's comment that he'd not have bought Boyd or Elmo went unnoticed by everyone, yet when I say it it's because I'm a '**** fan'

A bit of a prediction (or three):
Boyd will be a top larker if played as one of two forwards (the deeper of the two)
Cattermole will come in, get the armband and do a cracking job.
McShane will be a regular at CB in a back four by mid-november

If I was a betting man, I'd back the opposite happening on all three counts, but I'm happy to be wrong.

Erik i agree with you, a quinn and meyler midfield would be ****e. As much as we needed a goalscorer we also need 2 centre mids.

Quinns to lightweight and slow, will get bullied and outplayed
Meyler, not sure what he is but isnt good enough thats why he couldnt get in a sunderland team

Boyd will be understudy (and cup games) to Aluko in playing off our centre forward.
Cattermole won't sign and Davies will be captain.
We'll still be playing a back 3 in mid November as we'll be in 8th place and if it ain't broke why fix it.

I was just commenting that some people always need a boo boy for some reason, the least little thing a player does wrong and he's spot balled.

I think that Bruce will go for:

----------McGregor
---Chester Davies Figueroa
Elmo--------------------Brady
--------Meyler - NEW--------
------------Boyd*-------------
---------Aluko - Graham-------

*No idea what Bruce will go for there. I wouldn't even rule Koren out.

The 6 at the back seems pretty likely, I think that Meyler is fairly certain, and Graham too.

Not too sure about the other two midfielders, and supporting striker. Obviously Aluko will be in there, but not sure whether he will be with Graham, or maybe behind Graham+Sagbo? Then, presuming we get a defensive midfielder who will be starting, then you are looking at 1 out of Quinn, Boyd and Koren (or maybe even none of those 3 if we play Sagbo/Other ST).

I keep wondering what Steve Bruce means by us having strikers who are a bit different.

Does he mean that PL defenders will find them difficult to cope with?

Will he employ a little seen tactic that no one has used since the fifties?

Or will our strikers be different, because they are not in the team to score?

This is a genuine quandary, is our plan of attack based solely on Sone Aluko?

I would not base any forecast on our friendly fixtures. Bruce is not going to show his hand until Chelsea and even then I expect him to be more focused on the Norwich game.

He and Meyler are our two best central midfielders. Unless we buy two more, they'll both be first choice.

Once again Mr Erik you provide us with your doom and gloom negativity. While I respect you are entitled to your views your posts are the most depressing on the forum. Even when you give praise its always followed by more negativity. None of the players will ever live up to your standards of perfection. Yes some of them will fail or be poor but the squad is built on a solid team ethos and with one or two additions I believe Steve Bruce has got the balance about right. This team is far better equipped for a positive future than you give them credit for. Be brave believe in the players and you never know you may be plesently supprised and provide us with some uplifting posts for a change.

Less of the infectious criticism that is not often deserved.

Hi Leeds Met, I'm glad its not just me seeing Mr Erik as the eternal pessimist, its a wonder he even goes to watch them. Premier League here we come, one of the best squads we have ever had. I especially think Stephen Quinn will be one of the stand out performers this season, with a few more Irish caps to boot.

Good evening sir.
It's good that someone else sees sense and is optimistic about this coming season, like the majority of posters on here. Just the few pessimists that ruin it to be honest, who will then claim to be "realists."

Thanks, Hull born n bread followed them since the late 60s. Have always been positive even in the darkest days. Now the good times are about to get a lot better. I hate the negative types they sap your energy. Life throws up challanges (sporting and otherwise) for us all, deal with them.
