6 seconds in it now <yikes> He'll win it yet, it's only a matter of time. Just listening there he was extremely modest in defeat as usual.

I'd hope Vautour will develop into a Gold Cup runner next year. Should get stamina as he gets older.

No way would Cue Card have won, Don Cossack would have had to much up the hill for him.

Thing is you've got to seize the moment Beefy. At least Tizzard won't die wondering. Vautour had his ground this year. Next year could be a bog and Coneygree might be back. In fact given that we've had 6 deaths so far this year we could well have seen the last good ground festival. They already soften up Aintree regardless of what the official going description is.

Well said Chan ... I'd sooner see all NH racing run on soft ground if it reduces equine fatalities.

Right, have you all got your money on Vicky No Knicks in the next? I know Stick has .. he protests too much, I think hes a secret admirer <laugh>

Don't disagree Chan at all. I always doubted Vautour as a stayer for 3m2f and I guess with that rattling quick ground (for jumping ground anyway) they may go home wondering what if...

Didn't mean any disrespect to Cue Card either, but on here we've seen far too many 'what if' hypothetical arguments in racing. Totally pointless as they cannot be proven one way or other. At the end of the day jumping round 18 fences is every bit as fundamental as getting from A to B in the fastest time! Don Cossack didn't do that on Boxing Day and he paid the price. In January Djakadam suffered that fate. Today was Cue Card's turn. Main thing is the horse lives to fight another day.

That would of been a great fight between Cue Card & Cossack, twice in a row we've been robbed of a fighting finish by them. We can only speak hypothetically but personally think Cue Card would of won that, he was absolutely tanking it was like sprinter all over again

I know he was travelling well, but I just don't think he'd of stayed.

Don Cossack is very deceptive with his running style, he always has more in the tank than he appears to have. I'd be very confident he'd of seen off Cue Card.
