Worst ever festival punting wise for me. When the favs go well, TopClass does not. Well done to all of you who have had lovely returns this week l- go and do something nice and something worthwhile with them. The last two darts of the week are on THE SAINT JAMES who I think has a sterling chance if standing up. Ran well here last year. The other, at a right price, WORKBENCH gets his ground, goes off a low weight, and can complete a stunning day for the Skeltons.
Same for me TC, my last 2 darts go towards The Saint James also and Chris Pea Green who i had in this last yeard but fell when travelling well.
Serious cash for Next Sensation in the last. If this gamble is landed I would hope the stewards ask for an explanation. Much was made of Jim Best and his ban for skullduggery but instances like this,Son Of Flicka and Always Waining leave a bad taste where the animal runs deliberately half cocked all year to get a mark similar to the year before for the same race. It's never questioned and oft lauded as "a great piece of training" Rant over.
I'm on Lough Kent for Mr Henderson but wonder whether Germany Calling might break Charlie's Cheltenham hoodoo?
A few shackles on SURF AND TURF, this one won me a small fortune nearly a year ago when winning at 40/1. Will have him along with RED SPINNER, WORKBENCH and DANDRIDGE.
My outsider I put up on the preview runs in the last Sizing Codelco, however I've deserted him on the basis he didn't run here earlier in the year because of good ground....This could look daft very soon However I am claiming it, if it wins...Obs I've decided to back 2 against the field VELVET MAKER (Douvan form) and ROCK THE WORLD (form with Game Changer, unlucky 3rd in Arkle). Last race boys, may as well have a wee tickle EDIT: Just seen odds now, they weren't fav and 2nd fav earlier, honest
He is one of the few on here who have endured a MONSTER ALERT...... Well, to end this fantastic Festival (not from a betting point of view for me, but still terrific) I'll have an e/w crack on Chris Pea Green. Dunno if he'll get round, but a chance if he does.
Velvet Maker & Ravens Tower, both e/w... Good luck all. Can't believe it's gonna be all over in 5mins or so...!!!
Close with Dandridge and a great ride by DR but wouldn't have selected the winner in a month of Sundays.
