4 very leading questions.
Living locally is neither here nor there in terms of this issue, neither does formal involvement. Some people dont go to every game.
Why would he be on this board unless he was a fan .
Tbh your questions reek of football snobbery.
I rarely missed a game for 15 years, and for over 20 years kept my season ticket/card going even though I rarely used it.
Your inference is my views dont count.
There are plenty of people that can answer yes to every 1 of your questions but whose understanding of safc, finance, and football club ownership etc is probably on a par with what they know about the intricacies of brain surgery.

It's all good, he just asked questions and I answered, nobody needs to jump on anyone, I'm sure he didn't mean anyone else's views don't count, he just probably wanted to know if I was a mag.

I’m not so sure. My coworkers were in the box next to the Yanks and the Yanks told them they were buying (it sounded as a complete purchase) and it was a done deal. Dunno what changed but I believe my coworkers.
They weren’t in a box m8, think the co workers are pulling your leg.

They were in the directors box which isn’t actually a box. They dined in the boardroom and then were escorted into the premier concourse area.

Yeah that's fine, but Donald said they didn't make a bid and if that was factually incorrect, that would open all kinds of problems for him.

I believe the guy who had millions to lose by making false public statements about a very wealthy third party mate.
"Didn't make a bid" could be Donald being clever with the truth?

FPP have x valuation, Donald has y. That's not technically making a bid.

Is this them? Looks like a box to me.

It isn't, but it is very much in keeping with what he said. I think the most likely explanation is exactly as I said, that he asked them to consider a majority shareholding, but that they declined to make any such offer and stuck with their original idea.

As is your prerogative.

I think not. See the pic posted. One of my coworkers is in the pic.

Too many assumptions there for me mate.

They are and of course, that's why I said 'most likely', but they're based on Donald's wording on a number of occasions. He said that they went away and had a meeting and decided to do the loan. He said they didn't make a bid and weren't interested in majority ownership at the time.

A lot of people on here seem willing to completely discount the idea that this is what happened.

Not sure I've seen many on here discount anything that is suggested - none of us know for certain what is gospel and what is not. I'll keep reading and await what happens

Yeah I know there are plenty of level-headed people, but there are people a few posts up who are saying they won't listen to the owner, just person X.

Seems daft to me.

Because they didn't ever make a bid to own the club outright, and he did not believe they were interested in doing so now.

If he wants to sell to someone else, providing (as it would appear) he hasn't spent much, if any, of the loan, it's a non-issue for him.

Is this statement based on anything other than Donald's various comments?

The situation is fairly clear. Donald overpaid for the club and no one is going to pay enough for him to breakeven whilst SAFC is in League One.

The FPP deal gives Donald a chance to get SAFC promoted at which point, FPP will pay enough for him to get out without a big loss.

But FPP can’t force the timeframe. Donald doesn’t have to sell unless he wants to. But he has zero interest in putting any more money into the club. That is why he took the loan from FPP. SAFC runs at a loss so if it was not for the loan, he would have to finance that himself. He could do it, he just doesn’t want to. So his comments about how he could pay it back or put it in himself are a half-truth. He doesn’t want to take any more risk. He is already down £10m by my estimate. He doesn’t want that to be £20m.

If SAFC don’t go up this season, then unfortunately there might be enough wiggle room for SD to have one more go at it next season. But then he is definitely out of time and FPP takeover.

Either way, FPP end up owning the club. Next season in the Championship or later on still in League One. The only uncertainty is price - which is dependent on which division the club is in at the time.

In the meantime, SD will of course be desperately looking for someone to buy the club off him for more than £35m. But £10m of that goes to FPP and £25m goes back to SAFC to repay the parachute payments. So the big question is what does SD do if he gets an offer of £35m from someone less good than FPP? My guess is he will take it and get out. Luckily, I doubt anyone would be mad enough to pay that.

Good post.
Hope this FFP takeover happens soonest.
