Yes, the fact we've never seen any documentary evidence to the contrary and they've done a completely different type of deal.

But, just to be clear, that doesn't mean they didn't ever make a bid, nor does it mean they won't takeover.

We've never seen any documentary evidence that Staveley made a bid for Newcastle, other than what she and Ashley said ...

... but plenty of people believe a bid was made.

Over a curry and a bottle of wine. Apparently Ashley didn't appreciate the leaked pics and walked away

Donald would be legally by the proverbials if he said they didn't do something that they did, on BBC radio. It would be career suicide to do that to some of the wealthiest men in the world, you know how important these things are.

They may have given their consent to him saying that, they might even have insisted ...

... there are all kinds of possibilities but that's pure guesswork from me.

Even so I doubt if FPP would have the inclination to take Donald to court for speaking out of turn ...

... if it's slander it's hardly the crime of the century tbh.

4 very leading questions.
Living locally is neither here nor there in terms of this issue, neither does formal involvement. Some people dont go to every game.
Why would he be on this board unless he was a fan .
Tbh your questions reek of football snobbery.
I rarely missed a game for 15 years, and for over 20 years kept my season ticket/card going even though I rarely used it.
Your inference is my views dont count.
There are plenty of people that can answer yes to every 1 of your questions but whose understanding of safc, finance, and football club ownership etc is probably on a par with what they know about the intricacies of brain surgery.

Keep your hair on man

Was just a few general questions to a lad who puts plenty of post on here from what I have seen

Could have told me it was non of my business and that would be fine

I was alluding to the same kind of character references that were done by my investors, by everyone you've worked with, and by people on each other constantly where millions of pounds change hands. Donald ****ing about with the richest people he's ever known in the middle of a process with them would appear to be among the more stupid things I can imagine anyone doing.

Yeah I know there are plenty of level-headed people, but there are people a few posts up who are saying they won't listen to the owner, just person X.

Seems daft to me.
the problem is the owner has contradicted himself so many times, it isn't just a slip of the tongue and he has brought that upon himself. Now that doesn't mean to say he is always telling lies, but you cant then blame people for not believing him. We've all known people who embellish stories somewhat, and I bet if you have come across someone, then you take everything he says with a pinch of salt, even if he said 3 Hail Mary's and an our Father after it. Im an eternal pessimist, I want to believe the good stuff, but think the bad stuff will happen. Its got me through life so far, (and believe me I am more towards the end than the beginning) without me losing the plot and people castigating me for not being level headed

Funny you should mention it, someone does spring to mind mate.

Cracking post mate, and good to get a concise summary of the situation The only thing I'd pick up is the £25m going back to the club. I'm fairly sure when Donald was interviewed on the radio he basically said that if he found the right buyer he wouldn't feel obliged to pay the parachute payment back. I can imagine that being a potential sticking point because no buyer will want us if the club is £25m worse off than it should be!

As an aside I see we have another poster trying to claim that nowt is going to happen because Donald said so. Donald also said that it was never a takeover. I was at the RAWA meeting and they stated that it certainly was. Someone high up in the club had happily been telling everyone about how it was going to go through. Hell, Donald even said at a talk in that he didn't know if they'd want him and Methven, which hardly ties in with them always just investing in the management team.

At the meeting it was also strongly hinted that FPP were still at the table and still interested and that the only issue was the price with Donald seemingly wanting a significant profit from the £15m he paid for the shares. They weren't able to say loads, but what they said and what they hinted at was almost exactly in line with everything Smug has been saying. Put it this way, the people involved with RAWA are big fans of the club, they knew the importance of an upcoming transfer window. The statement coming out when it did was obviously for a specific reason. There would be no point putting pressure on Donald to sell at that specific time if there was no one he could sell to
Great post marra, proving once again that what is said at these meetings can be taken with a pinch of salt

I've just had a message from an original contact who's come good again.

He's confirmed much of what I've previously posted although it was a 'for your eyes only' message so I can't really post anything new from it.

It concerns the original terms of the FPP takeover and what has happened to change the situation.

All I can say is that, as things stand, I feel quite pleased with myself.

Ah splendid news.
Cheers mate

But there's no documentary evidence to say he's doing that is there ...

We're into a bit of a weird situation where you're saying there's no documentary evidence to support your suggestion that a bid was made, and that Donald is dicking anyone around.

So... I agree? There isn't any documentary evidence for something that I don't believe is happening.

Ah splendid news.
Cheers mate

Trust me mate, I wouldn't lie to you or the dozens of Sunderland supporters i know personally.

I'm easily recognised and would be risking a slap if I did, especially at the away games I go to.

As @Guinness Guzzler has posted, respected people with genuine contacts have confirmed much of what I've said.

They have no reason to lie and neither do they or the journalist in the OP.

Just so you don't get the wrong impression again, I am not saying you're a liar. I just don't believe your contacts have a very good track record on this issue.

Just to be clear mate, your word is not in question here.
Appreciate the info as always.

I've never seen a shred of documentary evidence prior to a takeover ...

... that doesn't mean none have ever happened.

Ain't got a clue about ins and outs of what's been said on this thread over the last 24 hours, or whether the info Smug has been getting is good or bad etc.
Whether FPP are in a position to take over and all that. What this 10m loan is for/means.
Right thicko when it comes to stuff like this. <doh>

Yup I'm with you on the thicko bit but for what its worth heres my take on this in a very simpified form.

FPP stick a few quid in a holding company. We go up SD gets it and buggers off. We do not go up FPP take control and SD buggers off without it.

Oh you're doing a bit about 'documentary evidence' now. Good stuff. Let's just say that nothing that we have seen from any source indicates a bid was made. That easier?
