I'll just be glad when SD has picked up his archive box with sundry trinkets inside and driven away forever from sunderland.
It's like having bernie madoff in charge of xmas saving club fund.

Sounds promising mate.

Despite our current situation we're a good prospect for someone wanting to buy a football club.

I laugh at people saying 'a big fan base is irrelevant theses days' ....

... the income may not compare to the TV money but of course it makes a difference.

It's the same with the way people knock the stadium as if it's a crumbling mess.

SAFC is a relatively debt free club with an unbelievable away support and a solid home support that's stuck with the club despite everything.

If nothing else that support is the perfect backdrop for televised games, buys merchandising and spreads the word.

There's no reason we can't get back to the PL, fill the ground and actually compete ...

... Donald won't be here much longer and there are signs that thing's are happening in the background.

There are inferior clubs in the PL, we need to redress that situation.

Just had another message saying Hetherington will soon expand on his takeover article.

Something is definitely going on.

This may seem counter intuitive but the lad who usually tips me off has gone very very quiet.

I've absolutely no idea who's involved but suspect FPP may have a serious rival ....

... just my own guesswork based on the "slightest comment" about our future ownership.

I'll be so happy when this is all done and I can go back to being just another daft Sunderland supporter.

What slightest comment Smug?

It was in response to a question I put to a friend in the legal profession who is on the edge of the EFL procedures for checking out prospective owners. They're not connected to SAFC or FPP but would know if other people are interested in buying the club. Of course, 'interest' is a broad canvas and, to my knowledge, three different parties have shown interest but are no longer around. It seems that there are prospective buyers looking at us, Newcastle and other clubs. I've no idea why, it's such a risky business, but despite what we'd all like to believe, money is the only thing that matters. I appreciate people's wishes to build slowly, improve the scouting & academy, etc etc etc. but that can only be achieved in conjunction with cold hard cash.

like most of us Sir, you will always be a daft Sunderland supporter, that is one thing that will never change.

Hopefully it's all resolved in the right way, not just the fastest. We know we've got a shot at promotion and the most important thing is to get a good owner with enough cash and a desire to invest it in us.

Interesting signing yesterday, anyone got any ideas on the fee?

It is reported as being 'undisclosed'. Does it matter?

@Smug in Boots potential new purchaser of the club?

Donald has publicly thrown the club open for offers and anyone interested knows they're in a race, albeit more of a marathon than a sprint. I don't get much in the way of details, but I do know that there have been various parties showing interest. Some have fallen by the wayside, but there's certainly interest and why not, we're a big club in a bad place. This is just a guess, but I get the feeling that Donald will drop the price to another party, to push FPP into action. If they saw things progressing they'd have no option but to make a move or see the club taken over by someone else, and simply be paid off having wasted a great deal of time, money and effort.

Same kind of money behind them aswell do you think ?

Yeah, I think it's a good indicator of where we are with all this. If he's spending substantial amounts of money, it might imply that he fancies staying and trying to turn round opinion. If its peanuts, it pretty much screams that he's selling to someone who isn't FPP and paying back the loan.

Theres just so many back and forth rumours by the same people, how do we know which ones to think are most likely to happen?

So again, why is he restricted from doing certain things by that charge sheet if he owns the club? Just repeating 'he owns it' doesn't mean he can ignore a charge sheet. I own my business but I was legally unable to leave my job without forfeiting all of my shares for the first 2 years of that period (this is absolutely true btw). That should give you some idea of why this is not as simple as you think.

I also can't sell my shares, or transfer them to anyone else without the consent of others. Life is complicated, they prepare for a lot of eventualities in these documents and ensure that the dominant party (ain this case FPP) has the most rights and protection.
Do they go to all that trouble at
Mc Donald’s these days?

Pretty simple. You read or listen, consider whether the person telling you it has any credibility and then make a choice as to what you believe.

Alternatively you could just argue continually, moan about everything and pretend that you yourself are in the know. I know which camp I'm in, and I suspect I know which one you're in.

I'm specifically not in the know, and I've never pretended to be. I'm not moaning, I said when all this kicked off that I think we should be mentally prepared for the idea that it won't be FPP, because the way some people have spoken about it over the last few months, they're so caught up in a bit of a fantasy scenario that if it doesn't come off, they'll pass that on to the next people.

That's why I'm saying, why don't we just listen to what Donald and Methven have said. They say they'll go back to the people from the summer, that they've had other bids. Good. Let's welcome whoever it is and hope they're better than the current lot. If it's not FPP, that doesn't matter imo.
