Because younger people are getting it..if I get it I'm fcuked

same here
i like many have underlying health conditions and the slightest infection such as ecoli just recently really knocked me off my feet for a month
covid would just take the piss

yet some people will get it and not even know?

my mate had it and was close to death

my 50 yr old sister in law tested positive and was fine no symptoms

yet her 20 yr old daughter, a smoker was very ill with it

its not just about age

But it’s only increasing because we are testing more.... the number of cases is still the same, we are just finding more. Same risk
Are they testing 4 times as many in this area as before...despite loads of people not being able to get tested because our areas test centres are taken off the booking website? Seems unlikely

Are people with no symptoms just clogging it up?
are they testing to see if youve got it now or if you’ve had it?
The test at the bridge is to see if you have it now.
Some people might be getting tested who don’t need to be, but the system sounds like there’s bigger problems than that. They obviously have less capacity in labs than they have for sticking buds up your nose.
It’s ok though Dame Harding and Serco are on it...

KCOM Stadium Pilot Fixture: Statement

We regret to announce that the proposed pilot event at the KCOM Stadium this coming Saturday will not take place with fans in attendance.

The original guidance was that up to 1,000 supporters would be able to attend Hull City’s home game against Crewe Alexandra, in fact, to manage risk, our intended number of invited fans was proposed to be around 600.

Whilst the Club’s request to host a pilot event had been authorised by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority, final approval was required from Hull City Council and the local Safety Advisory Group.

Unfortunately, due to the rising infection rate in Hull over the last two weeks, we have been unable to receive approval from Hull City Council Public Health.

Naturally, whilst we are extremely disappointed that we will not be able to welcome supporters into the KCOM Stadium this Saturday, we will continue to work closely with all of the relevant bodies in a bid to welcome supporters back to the KCOM Stadium as soon as possible.

In a joint statement, Julia Weldon, Director of Public Health at Hull City Council and Sam Henderson, Head of Stadium Operations at Stadium Management Company said:

“In order for the proposed ‘return of fans’ pilot match to go ahead at the Hull City vs Crewe Alexandra game at the KCOM Stadium this Saturday, it was necessary to meet 10 public event assessment criteria, established by the Association of Directors of Public Health.

“The first of these states that there can be no significant increase in the area’s coronavirus infection rate ahead of an event. Unfortunately, the rate in Hull currently stands at 15.3 infections per 100,000 people, up from 4.2 per 100,000 people last week. Consequently, on the grounds of public health and public safety, this pilot cannot go ahead and the game will have to be played without fans in attendance.

“We appreciate this decision will be disappointing for many but, in the current circumstances, it is the safest and most appropriate decision and has been made in the best interests of our residents and our visitors.”
Good news is you are all cordially invited to join in the fun at The Admiral of the humber.....We'll squeeze you in!!!

I don't think I would use Woodstock as an example of something run either smoothly or very well or with any hint of health and safety.
Eliminate as many hippies as you possibly could was the underlying objective :emoticon-0105-wink:

What is?

To repeat. The number of cases (positive) per 100 tests has risen. It doesn't matter how many tests were done; the infection rate is rising.
Perhaps the efficacy (read accuracy) of the tests has increased ? Or perhaps the number of asymptomatic participants in said tests compared to those with "symptoms" tested in the earlier stages have proportionally increased.
The baselines may have changed since this all began.

The increase appears to be in the last 14 days according to the source, which would suggest that is unlikely.

Or perhaps the Govt rushed to increase the capacity of the sites where people go to get swabbed so they could meet their self imposed targets of 200k plus a day (which was set ages ago from memory) but never arranged for enough capacity to test all the swabs if they actually did that many tests?

Serves them right for asking Diane Abbott to work out the numbers.

Apparently, there's been a massive increase in people turning up for tests with no symptoms, but with very good tans. It seems many people who went on holiday were told by their employers that they'd have to take two weeks off unpaid unless they got negative tests, so claimed symptoms to get one.
