Yep and court action imo. The unprovoked attack on Grealish should be a criminal case.
Yep, it's assault. He should be convicted for that.

Yeah, just the same.
Players walks off the pitch and is subjected to dogs abuse by a supporter, then reacts.
Fan runs on pitch and punches a player during the game = the same.

My point was that dickhead Gary Neville was making references to fencing, remember them, the very item that got football fans killed. But not only that he was calling for points deductions too, now regardless if Cantona was goaded, i don't remember United getting points deductions, so Neville needs to wind his neck in.
Going onto a pitch is a criminal act IIRC.Yep and court action imo. The unprovoked attack on Grealish should be a criminal case.

Neville is wrong in this instance about fences, but the reason has nothing to do with Cantona. Don't know why that's being brought into this.
Does Nevlle really think fans are going to pay £50 to sit behind a ****ing fence?
Football on TV will look **** with no fans in the lower tier of grounds.
Because, because... Man Utd should have a retrospective points deduction and the title should be awarded to Newcastle for that season!!!
The dodgy frenchman should cost his club dearly and bring long deserved glory to the magnificent Newcastle!!
What? That was the season before we finished 2nd? Man Utd were 2nd that season and Newcastle were 6th? Oh, forget it, should have kicked him harder.

All fans should wear the neck braces like off the start of the Running Man. Go onto the pitch and your head explodes!

It's a criminal offence and will go to court;
Common Assault – s39 Criminal Justice Act 1988. An offence of Common Assault is committed when a person either assaults another person or commits a battery. An assault is committed when a person intentionally or recklessly causes another to apprehend the immediate infliction of unlawful force.
Cantona got an eight or ten month ban.
Fencing keeps fans at bay, not players.
Attack on Grealish, didn't the guy actually touch him in some manner? In which case you'd be looking at Battery (which is probably the next bit of info after that quote there). It's the other part of common assault is when a person actually makes unlawful contact - you prosecute that because, among other reasons, it'll be easier to prove. They are both summary offences punishable up to 6 months and/or a fine in a magistrates.
You see, now we're getting somewhere![]()
I remember standing behind them n he 1980s mainly at WHL, but also at Selhurst Park, The Valley and Loftus Road. Horrible things that spoilt the view...was the main reason I watch spurs from the top of the shelf ... a distant view was better than looking through metal squares.I've sat behind them, even at a world cup game. ****ing awful, pissed me right off. Game went to pens and we were behind the goal and it was worse!
The Gills fan that got prosecuted for an identical offence, being a youth, got a nine month referral order and a five year ban.
Football fans get a five year ban at least. The point was Manchester United didn't get a points deduction.
Oh, ok.
A United fan didn't run on the pitch and punch an opposition player though, so?
