I work on the outskirts of Luton and my uncle (bless him he's gone now) used to own what was the Spar shop on Station Road in Earl Shilton (my cousin now lives in Barwell) ... feeling slightly victimised!

Bet he used to love all those kids hanging outside the front door, no other ****er ever went in there <laugh>

But seriously, are you Asian then?

Been to belfast a couple of times on the piss. A good friend of mine lived in holy wood, god bless is soul. Managed to get lost in east belfast which was fun!

No - my Uncle died back around 2005 and he had sold the shop a few years before that and retired - he was a bit of a local legend - heart of gold and all that

Live next door to Earl Shilton - it aint that bad if you move quickly. Visited Belfast a number of times and have to say it was very friendly where I went.

I hate these arguments, I really do. There's no way one can win so what's the point?

Let's face it - both places have nice parts, both places have bad parts, both places suffer from a bad reputation and both are probably a little hard done by. It's not as if someone living in Kensington is arguing with a Bradfordian here is it?

<applause> <ok>

I can make all your arguments invalid, because I used to live in Barnsley.

A tiny town full of backwards people.

Had some great nights there though, but that was more to do with the company that the place.

Had a bit of a whirlwind romance with a girl from Wath-Upon-Dearne (somewhere in between Barnsley and Rotherham for those that don't know) when I was younger - went to stay with her for a week. They speak a very different language there. Was out in a pub with her and another girl when some local came in and said to the other girl (if memory serves):

"Areeet, 'ow a'thee an' ow's tha biggun?" - in seeing my incredulous expression - my girl translated - "he's just asked her how she is and how her brother is" .... really enjoyed that 'summer of love' but the relationship was ultimately doomed due to to the language barrier.
