Hopefully they get the pay out they deserve now. I went to the game and they can't even afford to replace the bulbs in the scoreboard. Surely now they'll get a live match on the box. A team who actually needs the tv money being rewarded for fine form.
 
I can see why the ref gave it, his angle, the speed looks nailed on, lino on other side so no help there, second view slowed down from behind, shows he wasn't touched. Third view from the front (Rooney running towards the camera) shows, no he jumped over him, the keeper almost clipped his toe, he's gone down as the balls gone. No penalty, but you can't blame the ref!

No. I feel a manager should never slag off his players in public.

Mourinho doesn't do it, Fergie never did it and Wenger doesn't do it.

Why should Hodgeson do it?

How in God's name can you agree that he should ignore his captain diving? By saying it wasn't a dive he condoned it, meaning he is happy for his players to cheat. How is that a good thing?

Mourinho has been criticised consistently recently for ignoring his team's misbehaviours too. In fact, manager critcise their teams all the time, so I have no clue what gave you that idea in the first place.

I didn't say it was a good thing for players to cheat.

But I think it's right a manager doesn't slag his players off in public. If the manager has a problem with individual player he talk to him face to face.

They may criticism performance of the team as a whole. But very rarely will a manager come out blast a individual player in public unless the player isn't part of his plans.

Woy condoned his captain diving. I'm sorry, but he cannot just brush aside cheating and act as if it was nothing, which is what he did.


How often does a one-on-one work, would you say? Based on the amount of re-offending, it doesn't work most of the time.

I think you're being unrealistic if you think a manager is going come out nail his captain in the media.

Look at the way Fergie backed Keane and Cantona.

We've no idea if one on ones work or not because we're not privy to what goes on in the dress room.

I'm not a Rooney hater but I ****ing hate that type of dive. It happens all the time where a striker is going towards the corner so they boot it into touch and jump over the keeper, and they're always rewarded with a penalty. You can see it in advance and know what's gonna happen. Complete bullshit that games can hinge on ridiculous penalties like that.

The offside one, I'm glad it stood. I also hate goals being disallowed for such a pissy reason as someone being in a position the keeper could see. The rule used to just be if you received the ball from a team mate in a deliberate pass. All these offsides from a saved shot or '2nd phase' bollocks can **** off.
 
Will the FA, the guardians of integrity in the English game do anything about this?

Of course the won't.

But the goalkeeper intentionally slowing the player down and blocking his path without playing the ball, surely that's a foul if the player goes down or stays on their feet?

He didn't slow him down or block his path, Rooney stepped past him and then threw himself down, and actually tried to force contact by leaving his foot in.

Agreed. Thankfully Bradford City now get the game they want. Reading @ home.
