Who would you have as our next Manager

I think the point is that we wanted Koeman to continue, but not at £7M per year. So, we refused to match the offer. The very fact that this refusal to match Everton is out there shows maybe Koeman would have stayed if given enough cash - so it is not Everton he is desperate for, but more cash.

I would take that 'report' with a big pinch of salt.

Koeman is gone either way, so as a Southampton supporter I genuinely don't care where he ends up, it could be Real Madrid. It's m'eh to me.

The bottom line is this. Ronald Koeman as a football manager is not worth £6 to £7 million a year. You pay him £6 to £7 million a year when he gets you to the Champions League positions after his first season, not in hope of.

I am now going back to the thread that is important to me with regard to Southampton FC, The New Manager thread. This thread is dead, it is an ex-thread....

That is all.

The problem for Koeman is that leaving us after one more season could have put him in line for jobs that he was said to want, such as Barcelona. He could leave Everton after a few years, but he has put himself out of the running in the short term. Of course it is entirely possible that he believes he can do a real job with Everton and get the title and into the CL. In that case, it does make sense.

Yeah, he says that while Koeman was away on his first holiday we made contact with his former agent.

We were in talks with his former agent weeks before that. He also says that his agent refused the approach and that Koeman knew nothing about it. This is also cobblers, Koeman knew exactly what was being proposed.

Koeman sacked his agent before he went to the Caribbean on holiday. He also said that we'd been turned down by Emery by this point. We hadn't, we only went to Emery when Koeman had himself said no - about 10 days before his change of heart. He also says that we used Jansen, we didn't, we were using Mendes in our managerial search. It's full of inaccuracies which is one reason why I took it with a pinch.
Can you remind me who your sources are?

Still awaiting confirmation on who your sources are seeing as you have little faith in ours?
Put it this way, it wasn't someone I bumped into for a coffee who had some unknown connection with Soton.

The info I got on this issue was from an impeccable source (who's currently away on holiday btw, so I have no current information on the situation) and if you go back and read my posts on the subject from the point I joined this discussion weeks ago, you'll see that the timeline inaccuracies in the post from Jack **** cast doubt on the entire content.

oh right. As long as it's from an impeccable source that clears it all up then!

Koeman' s on holiday isn't he - surely you're not choosing to believe what he says?
