How about this - I have a job which I enjoy and want to stay in, but the people who do the same job in other companies that are no more successful (or a bit more successful) earn way more than me. I'm renegotiating my contract and want to be paid the same as them. Hey, this other company (and they're not even as good as us) will pay me 3 times what I'm on here. It's only fair I'm paid the same. News may leak out that I'm off but I'm not and people will forgive me when I sign the new contract. (or I might just take the cash at the struggling company, their best employees will leave anyway and I'll spend a lot more time on the beach)
only until he signs for Everton (which he hasn't yet)I am not too sure what you are saying here... are you defending him?
It wasn't the case of him being happy to see out his final year then leave. He was happy with extending his contract with us until everton offered £6m a year. When RonKo said I will see my contract out, the bit that was missed out was:- "if I am allowed to, but I will be off seeking a better job elsewhere at the end of it".

My main issue isn't the fact that he is greedy. Most people are these days, that is a bit annoying but it's expected. The main problem is the fact he has gone back on his word that he would 100% stay at saints and wouldn't leave even for Barcelona. That appears to be what Les thought too it seems, not sure what the truth is, but had I been in RonKo's shoes I may have been tempted by the sheer size of the bounty and I am as honest as the day is long!![]()
Once he's gone (assuming he's going, which we know he is but it isn't on the OS website yet), I presume we'll never believe a word from any player or manager who says they want to stay/will honour their contract. I thought we'd all got that pretty straight after Poch but then Koeman was refreshingly straight talking about his position with a level of sincerity which we all bought into. I can't imagine any of us on here with a half decent memory will be made fools of again no matter how convincing or likeable the manager seems. For me, Koeman was the last bastion of hope for trusting a person in this money driven football world.
I take it nothing has changed since last night then.
Echo says RonKo has trotted off on a weeks holiday and so the saga will go on and on.
