Wish people wouldn't use that as an argument when it comes to most footballers ... Ron's already a multi-millionaire, he doesn't need the money like we would.

But that argument consistently proves to be correct. If we keep expecting players and managers to put the club's interests before their own, we'll keep being shocked when they fail to do so.

For what it's worth, I was checking the Everton forum, and their trusted ITK seemed to think we gave them permission to speak to Ronald at the start of summer, and that we are only trying to make it look like we tried as hard as we could to keep him.
Again, not sure how reliable that is, but it's an interesting twist in the tale if true. I can't see Reed outright lying like that.

When did summer start?
By my reckoning, yesterday.

Utterly irrelevant, his life, his money.

And normal workers as it were put have notice periods, RK had a year left. They are all negotiable and that is happening with RK.

Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if our Board have driven this whole episode and should be congratulated if they achieve £5m in compo...

Billy, don't be a hero...

Oops, sorry my mind went off then as I started typing! I'll start it again.

Billy, you are perfectly correct, but this is football, I'm a football fan and when things go against my club, a flick switches and I leave the real world behind.

Bollocks to him. He's a lying, cheating greedy twat.

:)

We're not talking about nobody believing anything anyone says, we're talking about not believing a definitive statement from someone who works in football because they may be offered a vast sum of money to go against that statement.

It's our non-reality world. It's where our dreams are lived out. It isn't normal.

Oh, I'll probably fall for the same ****e from the next one too... It's my dream world.

Maybe the extension talks gave rise to all this and it became mutually agreeable to part now rather than next year?
Maybe Ron hasn't stitched us up.#
Maybe I'm still trying to believe that some people in football can still manage to tell the truth.
I'm just saying ... maybe.

Marca reporting that Quique Sanchez Flores is stalling on signing for Espanyol after receiving contact from Sevilla.

Article mentions that Emery is wanted by Southampton and may be about to leave the club.

I read this, and then read the comments after Google translate had done its thing.
This was my favourite, and struck a chord with me...

"And begins the annual torpedoing Sevilla. This topic is becoming like the song of the summer."

Ha, you're totally correct of course, but I am usually fairly level headed as well as a footie fan, as well as understand how things work in general business practice, maybe that's why I see it this was.

Oh, it's Stuart btw; Billy is my alter ego for when I get really pissed off !!!

Bit dramatic, end of humanity!

At the time he said he would stay, he moat likely thought he would, he got a great offer, and is possibly going to accept it.

People should never be held for changing their mind, it is their prerogative and yes, people will and are venting their frustration, but I is aimed at someone else for making a decision on their life.

Thats not the end of humanity, that's just life so ud better toughen em up sweetheart!

I don't believe you would turn down a double your salary rise with lots of money chucked your way to sort a problem.

That would likely be the end of humanity...

Don't understand the reality of how people perceive things.

I appreciate many of us feel let down and strung along, that is surely our fault as we bought into it, we didn't have to and it is our issue if it pisses us off or not.

So you blamed people for believing someone . I took the extreme example that if no one believed in anyone then our society would crumble.
Obviously an old fat ginger bloke breaking a football contract does not spell the end of humanity and I don't think anyone is stopping him from going or doing what he chooses.

However, he chose to make promises to Southampton and its supporters and built himself up as some kind of last bastion of trust and decency in this corrupt and greedy football world.

I'm sure there has been a wide range of different emotions amongst saints fans to Rons departure, but I guarantee we all share one thing and that's a loss of respect.

There's always a song whatever your name..

"You know what Stuart?
I like you
You're not like the other people
Here in the trailer park/forum"

Always a song

Absolutely correct...the person at fault is the liar...it isn't those who believed him when he spoke plainly and clearly so as not to be misunderstood. He even had the nerve to distance himself from Mauricio in a press conference as if he was a superior being.

Mate, agree with your comment about being allowed to change your mind. Absolutely, we live in an ever changing world.

There is stuff where it's ok to change your mind and other stuff that's not so cool. If my wife changed her mind about marrying me because some multi millionaire scouser came along, that would be a cop out and I would have a right to be aggrieved.
Ok this is a bit dramatic but this was a kind of footballing marriage, where someone has had 2 years of total support in which time that person has constantly rung the loyalty bell, selling those values only to jump ship at the first opportunity.

And he jumped not when we were doing badly, but when we could have been entering one of our most interesting seasons. He was pretty bloody happy with our recent form and the end of season frolics. I still don't know how he could do such a rapid volte face....suspect he must have had two faces all the time.
