I am not too sure what you are saying here... are you defending him?

Once he's gone (assuming he's going, which we know he is but it isn't on the OS website yet), I presume we'll never believe a word from any player or manager who says they want to stay/will honour their contract. I thought we'd all got that pretty straight after Poch but then Koeman was refreshingly straight talking about his position with a level of sincerity which we all bought into. I can't imagine any of us on here with a half decent memory will be made fools of again no matter how convincing or likeable the manager seems. For me, Koeman was the last bastion of hope for trusting a person in this money driven football world.

When RonKo said I will see my contract out, the bit that was missed out was:- "if I am allowed to, but I will be off seeking a better job elsewhere at the end of it".

It wasn't the case of him being happy to see out his final year then leave. He was happy with extending his contract with us until everton offered £6m a year.

That appears to be what Les thought too it seems, not sure what the truth is, but had I been in RonKo's shoes I may have been tempted by the sheer size of the bounty and I am as honest as the day is long! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

My main issue isn't the fact that he is greedy. Most people are these days, that is a bit annoying but it's expected. The main problem is the fact he has gone back on his word that he would 100% stay at saints and wouldn't leave even for Barcelona.

Pretty much so. I knew, after the experience with Poch, that I should be skeptical about people in football claiming they'll honour their contract. But I knowingly and willingly decided to take a leap of faith and trust Koeman, because he seemed such an honest guy. Got burned once, got burned twice...not happening ever again. They're all a bunch of lying bastards. Not much different then politicians, I guess.

When we get the £5m compo, then Les comes out and says,
'He told us he'd see out the final year, we told him that wasn't an option & puts us in a difficult situation.'
Then we can believe again. We may well have instigated this, I'm in no way defending him, I promise.

Don't understand the reality of how people perceive things.

I appreciate many of us feel let down and strung along, that is surely our fault as we bought into it, we didn't have to and it is our issue if it pisses us off or not.

If RK does leave, who wouldn't for such a substantial rise as a %uplift or £volume uplift.

I would be seriously amazed if anyone here would turn that down even in their current role (queue loads now telling me they wouldn't).

Also, perhaps RK is still mulling over what the right thing to do is (queue him being announced in the next hour).

Many people here are excited about who will come in, and most of us will give him stick, as is the proclaimed right of the football supporter.

Be funny if he stayed though...

Pochettino was always somewhat non-committal,tbf. He was going to quit when Cortese left, but supposedly Cortese himself told MP to finish out the year.

MP did make some happy sounding noises from time to time but I think mostly the club were trying to put a positive face on things and perhaps the fans bought into it too much. I always felt like it was 50/50 at best. I suppose I briefly got my hopes up that we were going to buck the odds, but in the end I can't say I was surprised he left.

At worst, MP acted like he might stay when in fact he'd pretty much made up his mind to leave. Whereas Koeman acted like he would stay, when in fact he'd not made up his mind at all. To me Koeman is worse.

But it's not a big deal anyway. Replacing managers stinks and there's always a risk, but none of them stay forever. If there was ever a not-terrible time for Saints to have to switch managers, this would definitely be it.

For clubs like Saints the only people who really listen to the interviews from the managers are supporters, so I take everything coming from players/managers with a pinch of salt. They are going to say what appeases the fan base the most, even if they don't really believe it themselves, and football is such a fast changing industry that things change all the time, when Koeman was asked about staying he may have really believed that he would, then Everton came along with the sort of offer that is virtually impossible to turn down.

If he had said something like "I have a year left, never say never" then people would've gone into full meltdown saying he was using the same line as Poch, much like when the club releases statements the managers/players are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Dismissing the "Everton" as Ronald, and most of us perceived them as competitors 3 weeks ago; is different to today dismissing the reality of a club offering him £7m per year. In football everybody has their price, and what appears as a close to loyalty (as you can get football) goes with it. We've never been more attractive for an incoming manger, who wants to superseded his predecessor.

Echo says RonKo has trotted off on a weeks holiday and so the saga will go on and on.

It is not wrong to have faith in what a person says. Most of us believed what RK said as in the past he has stuck by his word.
When we have installed our next manager it will be no different because we will simply want what he says to be true.
Chances are we will be let down again and again and again but it will never change how we want to feel or how we would like a person to be. That they say is life unfortunately, we just have to get over our disappointments and move on to the next prospect. Who ever that may be.

What harm would it do to the Club to give us some kind of bulletin?

    What can they say though?
I trust we are just trying to screw as much compo from EFC as we can while also sounding out a few candidates.
