Who would you have as our next Manager

I think your vision is being blinkered somewhat with what Leicester did. That was an extraordinary achievement and one that will be very very difficult to repeat. We went under the radar last season because of them. By all means dream of Saints winning the Premier League (I do!) but we are a big success story since we returned to the Premier League. We are not far off qualifying for the Champions League. Having a different manager does not necessarily affect that. We will spend money, we will buy players. Lets just see how the next few months pan out before accusing anyone of lack ambition. I've accused the board of this before and been made to look very foolish. I'm taking a more positive outlook this time and I'm rather enjoying it.

Whoever this is using Tom's account, posting calm, sensible, measured comments ... Can we please have Mr Angry back. Or at least let us know he is alive and well :)

For goodness sake, people.

By my calculation this 'package' from Everton makes Ronald the 6th richest manager in the world.

Behind the following...

Pep Guardiola - Manchester City
José Mourinho - Manchester Utd
Zinedine Zidane - Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti - Bayern Munich
Arsene Wenger - Arsenal

That is just bonkers, and Ronald has to go for it, surely? I'm disappointed but I can see why and ultimately, it could work to our benefit if he didn't intend to sign a new deal anyway.

*looks up at my earlier post*. Too slow DTLW, too slow.

*applies for Arsenal job*

This one hurts more than most. The reason lallana hurt is because we all thought he was different and that he loved us. It's the same this time, we all thought Ron was different and loyal. The fact he continuously reiterated it only further reinforced the idea. :emoticon-0153-broke

7m a year and the chance and finance to make a sleeping club a giant would test most people's moral fibre.

Whilst I am calm, and still positive about the club as a whole, there is a nagging part of me that always thinks; "two steps forward, one step back."
On the other hand, there is nothing we can do when clubs with huge wallets come calling.
A sad day, that Ronald has gone back on his word, and in my eyes he is equally as bad as Poch. I long for the day that we, as a club are actually able to hold on to managers and players, not only to see how we progress with a settled side, but also to actually have personal favourites in the team again.
Mercenaries. Even where you think there are honest men in football, there are truly nothing but mercenaries.

Neither Poch or Ronald are *bad*. This stuff just happens, and as someone said earlier, we've a little bit been victims of circumstance (in both cases).

This. We have a five-year plan to get to Champions League. Everton has a one-year plan. Whether that one-year plan is or is not pants-on-head-crazy remains to be seen, but when few managers even last five years, that's pretty appealing.

Ossie, we haven't taken one step back in the last 7 years!!! Lord help us when we do.

Good point - I said I'm positive! Maybe I should have worded it "I feel like we are comstantly playing with fire" instead of "going backwards".

Realistically though, he is replaceable as a manager if he does go. I think the great squad bailed him out of some Naive tactical decisions at times last year. So I'm positive we can replace him. (if it's true of course - still going to hope until it's officially announced)

Poor old Fran posted 20 pages ago that she was off to see her friend.

She'll come back to us lot discussing who the new manager is going to be while Ronald is holding up a blue scarf. <laugh>

I really hear what you're saying FLT, I just think this whole scenario with Ron shows a lack of ambition and fight.

No she dosent have to spend her money, but if she wants to just make do and be cautious, saints will never progress under her the way we all dream about.

We all have different dreams. Mine aren't wet. ;) <whistle>
We have progressed fantastically, under KL, probably faster than any Saints fan thought possible, yet for some, that's not enough.
The saddest thing about how far we have progressed, is how some fans have raised their own expectations to a level of expectancy that is on a par with the likes of United and Liverpool.
We are continually building and getting stronger, despite of the disappointment of losing disloyal staff, in the past.

I think thats the crux of the problem. Her Dad rescued the club and I love him for that. She has kept his legacy for sentimental reasons (who can forget the photos of him at the JPT final), but ultimately, pure conjecture here, she see's it as a business (i don't blame her for that) we are still punching above our weight in terms of where we finish, but financially we are still also rans. As long as we can keep building season by season thats fine but we will get it wrong with the wrong manager or players. Also, I'm not sure our conveyor belt of promising academy players is looking too bright.

can't believe its only just over two weeks since our best Premiership season (no i haven't forgotten 82)
