Perspective - only Guardiola, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Wenger and Zidane will be paid more than Ron as he will become the 6th best paid manager in the world. (Hence why I also don't hold any sort of grudge). Good luck to him and Everton. Not sure it'll work. Anyhow, who's next.
I won't be doing that until he's actually gone. Until then, I still love Ron the greedy, lying, Argentinian, sorry Dutch, git < joke by the way
I really hear what you're saying FLT, I just think this whole scenario with Ron shows a lack of ambition and fight. No she dosent have to spend her money, but if she wants to just make do and be cautious, saints will never progress under her the way we all dream about.
We were just unlucky with the timing, Everton sack their manager just before the summer, then get taken over by a man with money to burn, Ron had only one year on his contract and Everton were willing to get him at any cost, The more I think about the more I think that any manager wouldn't turn down such an offer. Whether Everton end up getting value for money is another question.
For goodness sake, people. By my calculation this 'package' from Everton makes Ronald the 6th richest manager in the world. Behind the following... Pep Guardiola - Manchester City José Mourinho - Manchester Utd Zinedine Zidane - Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti - Bayern Munich Arsene Wenger - Arsenal That is just bonkers, and Ronald has to go for it, surely? I'm disappointed but I can see why and ultimately, it could work to our benefit if he didn't intend to sign a new deal anyway.
This one hurts more than most. The reason lallana hurt is because we all thought he was different and that he loved us. It's the same this time, we all thought Ron was different and loyal. The fact he continuously reiterated it only further reinforced the idea.
How much compo we looking at then, surely we are not going, 'oh we tried......bye good luck' How much dosh?
Er.... Take a look back since she (not her father) has been in charge. She seems to be doing alright on the progression front. I'll be disappointed if this all happens, I just think you are letting your disappointment rule your thoughts at the moment. (I hope that's it anyway)
Whilst I am calm, and still positive about the club as a whole, there is a nagging part of me that always thinks; "two steps forward, one step back." On the other hand, there is nothing we can do when clubs with huge wallets come calling. A sad day, that Ronald has gone back on his word, and in my eyes he is equally as bad as Poch. I long for the day that we, as a club are actually able to hold on to managers and players, not only to see how we progress with a settled side, but also to actually have personal favourites in the team again. Mercenaries. Even where you think there are honest men in football, there are truly nothing but mercenaries.
Just to get up to speed again: who are the ITKs that have confirmed this is going ahead? Sorry if it's been mentioned, but been a lot of posts in last few hours to find them.
I'd have good money on Ronald De Boer popping up on Alan Brazil's show on Monday, talking about how Frank would love the opportunity to take on Soton. I might ask Paddy Power for odds......
I think your vision is being blinkered somewhat with what Leicester did. That was an extraordinary achievement and one that will be very very difficult to repeat. We went under the radar last season because of them. By all means dream of Saints winning the Premier League (I do!) but we are still a big success story since we returned to the Premier League. We are not far off qualifying for the Champions League. Having a different manager does not necessarily affect that. We will spend money, we will buy players. Lets just see how the next few months pan out before accusing anyone of lack ambition. I've accused the board of this before and been made to look very foolish. I'm taking a more positive outlook this time and I'm rather enjoying it.
It's still crazy to me that 7m a year makes him the sixth-highest paid manager in football. That's what, 135k p/w? A lot of money without any question, but there are a bunch of teams with players on higher wages. Given the importance many ascribe to the guy in the hot seat, it's somewhat amusing that many of them are making backup/fringe starter money.
