Who would you have as our next Manager

Kreuger may leave because football isn't his thing. It is very hard for us to judge how well he has done because it is all behind scenes. Good things seem to be happening, but no idea of his involvement...is he a figure head, a great organiser? No idea, though he has a good reputation. However, the ship could sail on without him. Les is a different kettle of fish as he is very closely involved in all football matters, especially recruitment. He is very committed to the Southampton Way...would he fancy trying to start it all again at another club where he may not get total support....doubt it. They published the highest wage at SFC and it was assumed to be Kreuger's....I wondered at the time if it was Les Reed. Les Reed would be hard to replace, even though much has been said about our system surviving changes.

Strewth guys some of you really have got the bug and have to keep running to the loo re RK. I have been trying to find out more about the meeting RK had in January. I don't claim my source is any better than anyone else but all this about RK possibly losing his job in January is bunkem, trust me on this.
There was disappointment it is true about the current form at the time. It is thought though that RK wanted to spend some big bucks, A to overcome the bad run and B to make a push for the top 4. My source has indicated that he wanted to well and truly break our transfer record on at least one of two players. As we know on this front we only brought in one forward player for, was it £8 mil? A player RK did not want unfortunately, but it was as far as Saints were prepared to go. apparently that had a profound effect on RK.
In truth it is thought he made up his mind there and then that he was not going to stay at Saints in the long term.
RK was a better than an average EPL manager, as someone else has said, though world class, not for me. Another couple or three seasons in the EPL he may well become one but he 'aint there yet.

Nah. We'll see though.

I'm not suggesting that Reed or Krueger have done a poor job at all. People and organizations always look for new challenges and eventually one era ends and another begins.

It's a team thing. Sometimes there's nothing wrong with any of the people involved but that spark of whatever makes them special goes out. You stay in a management job too long, you get maybe a little complacent. Or you get less effective because people are tired of hearing the same **** from you for too many years.

They can and hopefully will leave on good terms, and both sides will be better off.

I do know what you're saying, and of course things always ultimately change. But within the next year or so? No thanks.

Didn't we have a Rugby man once who was thought to be going to lead us to success? So why not an Ice Hockey man........Neither one seems to have the best knowledge of Football/soccer but they must have had/have something to help us on our way?

£30m.

Blimey he must be worth having then.

Meh, questionable at this point but he's just signed a 5 year deal with us so can't see him leaving. There were also reports that him, Mane and Tadic didn't like Koemans methods so he wouldn't go to Everton.

But of course, Tobes will be able to shed more light on this as he is all knowing when it comes to matters concerning Southampton.

I don't think Krueger is involved in football matters - he's mainly dealing with commercial matters. Wasn't Woodward brought in as a Director of Football or something similar? That was weird.

Yep........it is thought his success in getting the England Rugby side to challenge the best, could be repeated at Saints. Director of Football though that was a weird one. Krueger was brought in to emanate what he did on the business side of the Canadian hockey team. (Can't remember the team's name) As you say he has little or nowt to do on the actual football side unlike woodward.
It should be remembered though Kruger is being paid big bucks for what he is doing.

He was just a name that we were linked with in the past, I watch him once or twice a season when we play you guys and was just interested in him. The others linked is just paper talk IMO and the only player I think we should make a move for would be Forster.

We missed out when he moved to your lads first time, good potential and already a good keeper.

And also just signed a new contract. Not going to happen PJ, sorry. Can't see you getting, or being allowed to get, any of our players this time around.

Glad it's finally concluded.

Good luck for the coming season lads, I've enjoyed the discussions and banter on here btw, it's been fun :) (apart from Godders lol)

I'm sure you'll find an able replacement and the set up at your club is sound, so providing you continue to make the kind of transfer decisions that you've made in the last few years, then there's no reason why you can't continue to be highly competitive in this division.

If any of you make the trip up to Goodison this season and fancy a pint then drop me a PM and I'll happily get my hand in my pocket for a beer at The Oak <ok>
As Millwall say "No one likes me. I don't care."

We have ultra-detailed info about every player we choose to be interested in. That's some of what the Black Box is about.

I would think we have ultra-detailed info on every player and manager including those we aren't interested in too. There might be chuckles in our analysis team when other clubs buy a player that didn't meet the black box requirements and I suppose there are a few of those that either the black box misses or meet our requirements after a move to a different club.

Lets hope Les and Co get lots of chuckles from Koeman's purchases for Everton and that the black box is vindicated on each occasion.

Exactly what I thought. Krueger yes, but not Reed.

I think many people are underestimating Krueger. Since he has taken over and he has started to put into place strategies going forward we have signed a new lucrative sports kit deal. We have just signed a very lucrative main sponsor.

I would suggest in Krueger's case that we could do with him hanging around for a decade to oversee the implementation of his commercial plans and tie ups in the US etc.

On Reed's side while it would be great if he similarly stayed around for years and years he is effectively leading a department that is already in place. The plan is set.

I wouldn't want either if them to leave "to freshen things up" but Reed's side is already there and he just has to make sure it remains that way. Krugers plans have much more work to be done to implement and it is the commercial side that will eventually get us to where we want to be brandwise.

I think many people think Krueger just sits on his hands and comes out with a motivational speech every now and again but I think he is probably the key member of the board at the moment who keeps his cool, is very determined and focused and everything he says will be done is done.

So any talk of it being a good idea for them to leave "to freshen things up" is nonsense. They are both doing a great job.

Les Reed just taps the shotgun on his desk* if any player even suggests leaving for Everton.
