It's why a couple of days ago I proposed the idea of what we'd do here if Koeman turned up and said, no, I was never really interested, but I had to check.
In truth, there would be a lot of humble pie being eaten. Although media misdirection would have to take some responsibility for that. Would also square the circle in terms of our understanding of his character.
Everton and Saints are just two clubs who do their discussions behind closed doors. It makes for a lot of confusion and inaccurate talk. We just have to live with it.

It isn't official yet TSS so I take it you still don't believe it? ;)

Talksport saying that Koeman and Reed had a falling out over the availability of transfer funds. If this is true it would be very interesting to know the figures in question. Without actually knowing the numbers it's hard to really make a judgement. Reed could have been being tight and only giving a budget of £15m plus player sales or Koeman may have been demanding north of £70m, you just don't know!
Some fans assume that money equals ambition and that Saints (i.e. Les Reed) is tight....though I suspect most aren't siding with Koeman now. We have a budget and not a bottomless pit.

Oh I guess I believe it. I'm just looking at the scenario of what happens if it isn't true. Do we simply go back to being as if nothing has happened.? From this point I feel I can because I never entirely burn my bridges until things like this are confirmed.

I don't agree with the need for any of us to eat humble pie, should Koeman follow the scenario you have suggested, simply because he could have ended any speculation a week ago.
And if he did now come back and say he wanted to stay, I wouldn't want him back.
For me that bridge is well and truly burnt.

Yes, but it could be burned in your head only. The truth may be different.

Ronald Koeman's official appointment as Everton manager is set to be delayed until next week, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Echo says "practical issues over finalising contracts" have arisen due to the 53-year-old Southampton boss being away on holiday.

Of course we have a budget, but money is of course linked to ambition. If this summer saints only spent about £10 million then that would, in my opinion show a lack of ambition. You can only use the resources available, going beyond that can lead to trouble. But it is important to maximise those resources in order to progress. The money we have available in the premier league these days is astronomical. We have made a healthy profit for a good few years and it is important to invest in the team.

I'm not calling for the board to go out and splash £70m quid and offer huge wages. I just want us to continue to make the most of our scouting network whilst not being afraid to compete financially if need be.

You just get the next bloke lined up and then wait. In any case, by the time Ronald leaves (early-mid next week), Les will be getting on to the 'let's have a chat' stage with a couple of prospective managers.
