'Reed learned of Koeman's interest in the Everton job in the press, then confirmed by Bill Kenwright'. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/14544812.Saints_not_interested_in_De_Boer__reveals_agent/?ref=rss
Awww, look what you have done Ronald, breaking little kids' hearts... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/145..._tear_to_every_Saints_fan_s_eye/?ref=mr&lp=12
Saints kids have to grow up tough and accept what life throws at them Have to say this was tough and incomprehensible to adults.
http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/43026/ Piece from the Ugly Inside remarking on press silence about the snake in the grass going to Everton. It's probably because there is nothing to report rather than Everton pulling out (my favourite though unlikely scenario). #makeitso Personally I think the press are a bit uncomfortable with the whole thing....as individuals they know he has behaved badly but a) they are used to this in football and b) they have to keep in with the winners, but aren't sure who the winners are yet.
You are meant to protect your children from trauma not cause it. I don't like this video and am more than disappointed in the father. It was all a little bit cheap.
Wasn't it only last Thursday that all these ITK's said Koeman was going to be announced "in the next 24 hours". Been a very long 24 hours...
Not sure about filming and putting it out on video, but you can help children deal with trauma, but shouldn't seek to protect them totally. Learn that you can deal with and get over most things is a powerful lesson for adult life.
But we never seem to learn, do we? We need Adkins on speed dial...he'd tell us we were going to be alright.
It's why a couple of days ago I proposed the idea of what we'd do here if Koeman turned up and said, no, I was never really interested, but I had to check. In truth, there would be a lot of humble pie being eaten. Although media misdirection would have to take some responsibility for that. Would also square the circle in terms of our understanding of his character. Everton and Saints are just two clubs who do their discussions behind closed doors. It makes for a lot of confusion and inaccurate talk. We just have to live with it.
Charming as the humiliation of Koeman would be, it is sadly unlikely. Too far down the road now. However, hypothetically, Saints should tell him to do one if the move doesn't happen.
Talksport saying that Koeman and Reed had a falling out over the availability of transfer funds. If this is true it would be very interesting to know the figures in question. Without actually knowing the numbers it's hard to really make a judgement. Reed could have been being tight and only giving a budget of £15m plus player sales or Koeman may have been demanding north of £70m, you just don't know!
I still believe that the Liebherr's want to recoup their investment. Quickest way to do that is to minimise investment in the club with the introduction of the new TV deal. They could pretty much walk out next summer not only with all their money back, but with £75-100m+ if they sell the club. Although I believe that Koeman must of been aware of this and why he was going to stick to his 3 years here. Apart from the stupid money from Everton, still not quite sure what changed at the club to force the events of the past week or so.
I'm quite sure that Koeman has been quoted as saying Saints would only need 1 or 2 players , depending on departures, so I would be surprised if lack of transfer funds was an issue - unless Koeman wanted to spend £30/£40m on a single player. More like a smokescreen, IMO.
