I think 20 quid a ticket was a very good offer. Unfortunatly the fact it was on Tv meant people prefered to spend that 20 quid in the pub!
If thats the case then the club need to drop the price down to a tenner for FA cup games! If you market the price correct the fans will attend!
Is that why pubs are closing down an alarming rate? Maybe this apathy thing is spreading to alcoholics...Or maybe people are prioritising.
pretty sure the away team gets a cut of the home gates income in the FA Cup, thats why its great for Lower league teams playing PL big clubs, they know the chance of getting through is slim, but they make a fortune compared to their own gate, it used to be 25% i think. So you cant make it free, you cant even reduce it, not sure if the FA have a min price stipulation or not, but I wouldnt be surprised if £20 was the best they could do.
Can't understand all the negativity on here, ****ing hell we've been drawn away to Everton where we have a terrible record but since O'Neill came to our club we have 22pts from 11 games(champions league form) and won three cup ties. We have to win there sometime and this season we have a big chance. The way we set out to play these days soaking up pressure and hitting teams on the break suits us perfectly playing away games and we've scored countless goal of the season contenders, particularly from our midfielders. I think they should be fearing us rather than us fearing them as our new installed confidence, self belief and attitude is something i've never seen in 35 years. My money's on us! Wembley here we come. Ha'way The Lads

That was meant to be a link to an Everton forum, haha. That was for my mates benefit yesterday, he insists AVB will get it right. He probably will, at Benfica.
Don't know why we should even turn up. According to that shower of ****, it's in the bag. Bloody scoucers...They should move Liverpool into Wales and be done with it.
We played the same team twice on the trot, anybody who bought a ticket to go and see the league game would have stayed home to watch the FA cup game . I've never had a season ticket - never lived in Sunderland or the area - but season card holders have to buy tickets to see the cup games, right?
Why????..I'm a season card holder and I never dreamt of missing an FA Cup 5th Round tie against Arsenal..
I know it was 20 quid a ticket, but if you are tight for cash then I can understand why you wouldnt want to pay to watch a game you had seen the week before. wouldnt account for all the empty seats but I'd guess it played a role in the low attendance.
I think some people are being a touch harsh on MR White who has used these boards for years going back to when it was part of the BBC website. I can see arguments from both sides, I really can. As football is a business you have to compare yourself and maybe I shouldn't but I can't help but compare to Newcastle. I know we are in a very tough economical climate and believe me I am feeling the pinch and am not a wealthy person at all, probably below the average but if Newcastle can still continue to fill their ground then why can't we? I am also pretty sure they would have more or less been a sell out yesterday as much as it pains me to say that. I cannot accept that Newcastle supporters are more financially well off then Sunderland supporters yet always show out in their support. I am not looking to upset anybody and would appreciate constructive feedback
I think its a number of things. Success over recent times (Yes they got relegated, but first time in awhile, and they came straight back up) 3 year Season ticket deals/10 year bonds (not a clue how it actually works, but it must) Everything goes through Newcastle, its probably quicker (and less stops) for me to get to Newcastle than it is to get to Sunderland from Boro. They have all of Northumberland to the North who havnt got a team in the proper leagues, Whitley Bay etc etc as well, we have perterlee to the south and thats about it, as you get to Boro after that. They also have Cumbria on the other side, which again only has Carlisle as a professional team. So they probably have a bigger catchment area than us. Stadium is easy to get to (and get out of), ours is a bit of a nightmare, plenty parking in the city, Sunderland doesnt have much parking, unless you use the side streets (I cant drive but from memory anyway)
Ashley cut the price of a season ticket by 50% for existing season ticket holders on October 24th 2011. That may explain why Newcastle manage to pull in a good crowd. I'm sure most season ticket holders have a mate who they can come to an agreement with.
Not the most favourable draw but look at it this way: They have got to try and win it because a draw means a replay at our place and our record at the sol is excellent. With that in mind it will suit our style of play. I am going if I can get a ticket.
Thanks for the support marra, but don't worry about me, my shoulders are broad enough to take any criticism that comes my way from expressing my opinions..
