Most tournament winners have a slow start and England fit that profile.

We've probably 'warmed up' and have acclimatised now, having deliberately played 'within themselves' tonight, conserving as much energy as possible, so I'm expecting a much better, winning, performance on Sunday :emoticon-0100-smile

The commentators keep celebrating about how we might avoid the better teams ...

... ffs, we couldn't even look like we could beat Freedonia or whoever it was tonight <doh>

TBF their supporters have taken over the streets of Cologne tonight and clearly believe they can win the tournament <party>

Eh? For the role Mainoo came on to do we could have got Gordon on, moved Foden centrally and Bellingham just ahead of Rice.
Far from perfect and still frustrating, we are through as group winners, which is what we wanted, Southgate is still a cock but we saw glimpses of something different tonight

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s unchanged on Sunday. Possibly mainoo for Gallagher but be stunned if drops one of the front four in a knockout round.

Hopefully he has the bottle to change things

Not good enough after three games.

He had a chance to make meaningful changes from the off and didn't. He sent them out 2nd half with nearly the exact same set-up as the other games regardless of the sub.

Did we? Looked the same to me. Nothing down the left side, multiple players occupying the same spaces, no intensity with or without the ball.

The only difference was Gordon and he was on for 4 minutes so doubt he'll feature much going forward.

Ko’s are a completely different beast to group stages, if choosing to keep the faith today

Palmer could be key for me

Topped the group, in exactly the same position if we'd won all 3 games 8-0.
I'm sure we'll be much better against teams that have to try and beat us.
Yes it was ****e but how many tournaments have we dominated in the group stages
Netherlands will beat us easily, another Southgate masterclass

You know a manager is done when he starts doing things massively out of character. TAA on and Walker to LB? That isn’t Southgate.

I'd go

Guehi
Gomez

Rice
Mainoo

Palmer
Foden
Gordon

Watkins

It won't be though, Kane, Bellingham etc will start
