Can't help but think this might be being Southgate being very clever.

If he'd taken the likes of Henderson and Sterling, who look like they're on their way out, and failed it might have suggested its a good time for a clean break.

If he refreshes the squad and brings through young lads it feels like his team and him have a big future, especially if they have a run deep into the tournament.

Getting short with injuries in his position I think, and still better than a few others mentioned. Also seems to play well with Stones for England, important having a CB pairing that understand each others games

Yeah no denying any of that. Just featured less than Grealish in a much worse team.

Trent down as a midfielder is interesting, I know he's played there recently for England though.

Good squad, the 4 who are dropped out ahead of the tournament will be unfortunate.

7?

Would struggle to easily name 4, Toney, Maddison, a keeper, then who?

Thought it was 30, blame my eyes:emoticon-0140-rofl:

I think Trafford, Quansah, Konsa, Jones, Toney, Bowen and then unfortunately one of Mainoo or Wharton will drop out.
Konsa will go imo as will bowen and mainoo

Reckon trafford shaw wharton toney jones quansah and guehi will drop out

Is Mount injured? He hasn't even been mentioned as left out.

Hes been injured and shyte all season.

Id feel abit hard done by if i was Solanke. Toneys been banned half the season and done nothing since he was allowed to play again. Solanke has managed nearly 20 goals in a struggling Bournemouth side.

I get your point but Bournemouth definitely haven’t struggled, they’ve had a cracking season after some good signings last summer.

The most exciting England squad, in my opinion, since Italia 90. It looks frightening from an attacking perspective. Options galore. Southgate has made some big calls, correctly in my opinion, and he has me chomping at the bit for the tournament to get going.

Delighted to see Wharton and Mainoo in. Just more evidence of the brilliant work academies in this country do. Same with the likes of Branthwaite, who might well be the missing piece at the back alongside Stones.

I wouldnt like to have to leave 4 out personally. At a push I would leave Trafford, Quansah, Toney and Maddison behind. Maddison hurts me to say so, old school street footballer, but he hasnt been in good enough form sadly.

Agreed. I've been critical of him but I think he has done really really well with that squad.

To make it even harder, it's actually 7 that need to drop out. Someone deserving of a spot is going to be left out.

Bloody hell. Thanks mate. You can choose the other 3 then <laugh>

Wasnt there talk of bigger squad sizes this time around? Or was that just for preliminary squads?

Yes mate, that’s still happening. 26 going to the euros

They will surprise plenty I think. As talented a squad as Scotland have had for a while?
Germany, Switzerland and Hungary to play. I don’t see them causing those teams much trouble personally.

I think they’ve got some good individuals, especially in defence, but I don’t see where the goals come from.
