Nah mate. You called him a clueless melt (whatever a melt is) who couldnt do it himself. If you are the sort who does personal insults you dont deserve a response to those questions as I can only assume you arent open to debate on a balanced level. Hence I have to laugh.

Points in previous post still stand mate. All easy fixes and he isn't doing it.

In the here and now we have a far better squad than we are showing. We can’t go back to 1990.

There were some really average players in them squads.

Tell me how Gallagher and Bowen are better shouts that Palmer when we need a spark.

I’ll refer to the final v Italy till I die. They were 1-0 down and we pressed for 20 mins they were gone, then he reined us in and they found their feet and we ****ed it.

He is not good enough. He is not brave enough. He doesn’t know how to set us up to dominate and we absolutely have the players to do so.

We have played a poor Serbia and an ageing Denmark. This hasn’t been v Spain, France or Germany.
I was responding to the statement Southgate has the best players. So going back to those eras was relevant.

England have been very poor in both games but 4 points is still a really good return. They dont need to be at their best now but at some point theyll need to be.

The concern i would have for England fans is there doesnt appear to be a game plan in or out of possession. In possession its so slow n players dont seem to be creating space for each other - now some of that will be on the players but when so many arent doing it, it comes down to the game plan.

Out of possession, there are far too many gaps between the lines n opponents CBs are able to step oit easily with the ball - do that against the elite nations and they dont stand the chance.

Kane is one of the best strikers in the world - possibly the best - but i think hes an issue for this England team. He doesnt look match fit, is coming so deep when England have it, isnt starting the press n he seems to be dropping into teammates space.

Obviously its hard to drop him because he is world class but if you are starting him then you need to play to his strengths. Gordon probably would need to start, as he will run in behind. Id also drop bellingham deeper, feel hes better coming from a deeper position.

I actually think England would be better going 433 n having 2 CMs running from deep n getting them going beyond Kane when he doee drop in

Rice Gallagher n bellingham would be my 3, i know folk want the 2 younger lads but just feel that 3 has energy n power to unsettle teams running from deep

RM is a tough one, id atill start Foden, he was good tonight imo and he is genuinely world class at club level.

Hope palmer gets on the pitch in the next game as hes been a joy to watch this season

If i was in charge tho my team would be

Pickford
Walker stones guehi trippier (no other option)
Rice belligham
Palmer foden gordon
Watkins

that would be my team for the next match. Can Gomez come in for trippier - I thought he could play left-back? Trippier has done nowt.

Im not sure we had as many or the balance in either era mate. We had some cracking player in both but we have the players to balance this squad.

There were some really average player in the 1990 squad, and actually folk forget we were pretty ****e in that tournament too.

Scraped through the group by a 1-0 v Egypt, shocking v Belgium. Behind and 2 pens to beat Cameroon.

Maybe 5 of the Italia 90 squad get in the current squad imo.

They do mate, but I am not engaging when folks starting point is he couldnt do it himself. Many top coaches coulnt do it themselves, it is not relevant.

I will happily debate it if we arent tarring him with whatever he did or didnt do 20 years ago. It needs to be balanced though. One for tomorrow if you are on. I have had a bevvie and as usual am defending coaches because I have walked in their shoes and feel they are target number 1 again and again. Tonight was on the players, more than Southgate, and I would put my mortgage on elite coaches agreeing with that.

I’d be bold and sack him mid-tournament. Bring someone in who can motivate the players and who can get the players to deliver on tactics.
Who

Wasnt Kalvin Phillips regarded as a top class player for England. Didnt he make a big money move to Man City, the so called best team in the world. Honestly, you would think he is saying we are missing carlton palmer the way you are going on.

Lets hope he accepts the great Trent example has failed, because it looks a poor balance in a base 2. They are flat and lacking in dynism. CG made a noticeable difference, again.

Exactly. He’s a mess.

He’s playing a RB in CM when we’ve got CM’s on the bench. He’s playing a RB at LB who hasn’t got a left foot at all. He’s playing a CM out wide left when he’s got wide players on the bench. He’s playing our slowest forward when we need someone up top to stretch other teams.

I don’t know how you can defend him, mate.

Look at your elite club managers, they are on that touch line encouraging and coaxing players, reminding them of their duties and encouraging them. Southgate went to the touch line a couple of times to tell them to calm down for gods sake. He has took probably the best attacking midfielders and forwards in the world and made them look ordinary. I used to love watching England but now I don’t and that’s down to Southgate, he was an average player, a poor club manager and nothing more than a virtue signalling yes man for the FA

Let’s be honest… this tournament has been fantastic. Most teams are going hammer and tongs at it, it’s providing great matches.

The two British teams are stinking the place out with our performances.
