I’d struggle to disagree there. Don’t like Gordon but he’s a good player and probably makes the most sense in terms of balance for the team.

Palmer or Foden are perfectly fine if you have a left back who is going to overlap, but Trippier playing on the wrong side doesn't do that so makes Foden drifting in less effective. Want Gordon to hold the width on the left.
