Can't disagree, Luke. The lack of basic skills in some of them is appalling. As to line ups and permutations of, that's down to clueless Woy.
Welbeck would of gone if he wasn't injured I think. Oxo and Walcott didn't have good seasons and there were othe oacey options available. Wilshere I thought did well today despite his lack of game time over the season. So I don't disagree about there not being Arsenal options to go for. The Spurs lot were **** though today.
That's partisan. Wilshere was awful, along with the rest of them. Rashford looked good but didn't have enough tme.
Everyone was ****. I don't think that's a coincidence. Ramsey's been ****ing awful all tournament too, by the way. That's even if you ignore his haircut.
In the second half today the inability to do even the most basic things was absolutely embarrassing for all them. And how does Hodgson hit this far into a tournament and this long into his job and not know his best team or who plays well together?
Not good enough to progress to the latter stages of a tournament. And certainly not good enough to beat Iceland tonight.
I think Ramsey's been fairly good, better than he has been in recent times for Wales, particularly there last game. The whole England team have been **** though. Today was so bad. There aren't words to articulate the atrocious shambles of a performance today.
As has been said, Kane, Sturridge, Vardy, and Rashford all on at the same time?? Pure desperation!..Please, get out there and save my job. The only possible upside is, they didn't!..
Alli and Kane were poor though arguably we didn't play to either of their strengths. Dier was ok but poor against Iceland. Walker was excellent for the first 2 games but poor against Iceland. Rose was one of the few to come out of the tournament with any credit, though not much. We have some good players and one or two very good ones but they can't out-play a poor setup and system and account for individual mistakes. Proper organisation and a coherent, well drilled way of playing makes up for a lack of absolute quality (see -> Iceland), and a lack of the former can totally undo the latter as England have adequately demonstrated over the last decade or so. We weren't bemoaning a lack of quality when we beat Germany, or when Alli scored that screamer against France. The players need to take some blame especially those who made mistakes at key moments. But the management and coaching staff also need to hold up their hands and accept a considerable share of the blame for their totally inadequate selection policy at a squad and team level, and utter failure over nearly 6 years of management to introduce any coherent style of play and identity to the England team.
That was my point. Sturridge didn't do an awful job on the other side but it was very obvious he was playing out of position. Much like Rooney. Much like Alli. Much like Lallana. It can work but there's a time and a place for testing things out and it's not at a bloody Euros! Play players in positions you know you can rely on them to perform in. Don't take injured players. Don't make the same mistakes every bloody time!
Disagree, I thought Wilshere was the only player to put any kind of decent delivery into the box and inject some form of movement and passing to the midfield, by that point everyone else looked bereft of ideas. Rashford should have been on earlier, I was calling for Rashford on for Rooney on our euro thread early into the second half when it become clear Rooney was having some kind of mental breakdown in front of the nation.
Eddie Jones would have had no issues whatsoever dropping Rooney and going for the starting XI that played the friendly against Germany.
And that's nothing to do with the players available, in my opinion. Hodgson did a woeful job at the tournament, again. Picked the wrong players, didn't balance the squad and failed to work out what his best side was. Loads of unfit, knackered or confidence-hit players, all sandwiched into something vaguely resembling a side. He left out players on form, on a high and playing consistently well, going for favourites and overloading his forward options.
