The Treaty of Schengen goes back to 1985 and it's inception in 1995, it was fully adopted as EU policy and one of the core drivers of the EU along with the Euro through the 1999 Treaty of Amsterdam, the veto's and opt out that we currently have will should we vote to remain come under immense pressure to be set aside as we will have mandated the acceptance of full membership of the EU, there is no half measure in the factor of remain, all the EU Council has to do is impose a legislative factor with fines for failure to comply, we only have an 8.24% say in the Council so guess what, we will lose.

We will as you say still have illegals however not being subject to Europeans Courts we will be able to more freely remove illegal immigrants and can impose much better border restrictions and stop the flow inwards, we are also then better able to control all forms of immigration and migration, similar but very different things.

Can't we just agree that you don't want to ruin the economy and all just vote in like sensible people? <laugh>

I see no facts either way so I think I'm right, you will think you are right. Touche

There are loads of facts out there for you, but out voters rely solely on the membership subsidy being "expensive" which they would rather spend elsewhere, they aren't saying it doesn't benefit the economy. Their delusion is thinking being an isolated loner will somehow make us more profitable, and are rightly being ridiculed by every quarter.
Some senior twat out voter who used the NHS to justify their stupidity just switched sides after admitting out voters are talking bollocks <doh>

Basically, anybody who thinks "I want to save the NHS" should be an inny, because it's the conservatives who want to **** it, and voting out gives them MORE POWER... DUUUHHHHHHHH

Illegal immigrants - We cannot forcibly remove them easily because of EU Law. We will still have them if we leave the EU, but as you say, we can get rid of them ourselves without having to justify it to an external international body. This whole thing is about UK democracy and our ability to govern ourselves and make trade deals with who we want. That is the real issue. Do we want to give away more freedom to the EU bureaucracy and have them tell us how to govern our own country or do we want to say to them, 'actually, we have had enough.'

Why does voting out mean the economy will be "ruined".

It will have an adverse impact but nobody is able to forecast by how much or for how long. There are too many unknowns and other outside factors to be able to say how bad though or for how long.

It will have an impact and we are then guessing. Are people satisfied for other reasons to vote out regardless as to how bad bad may be on the economy?

We will still trade with the EU irrespective of whether we leave or not. Will German car makers all of a sudden tell us that they aren't going to sell their cars here anymore for example? Are companies like EDF going to pull out? No. There will be impact on the economy, but not this major catastrophe that some are foreseeing. We will forge our own trade alliances with EU nations and beyond. We just won't subject ourselves to EU tariffs and be told who we can and cannot do deals with.

Because you would have GEORGE OSBORNE negotiating trade deals... That's how I know the economy will be ****ed. I admire the fact we have so many conservative lovers amongst our ranks though. If we vote out, and let's face it, we won't, because only the raji out voters are shouting the odds at present (as always with referendums), and as soon as it comes to polling day, the normal people will turn up, I hope you guys enjoy Boris as PM.

I never get this idea that the conservatives want to destroy the NHS, Thatcher actually increased real spending on the NHS, not %ages but real money, Labour never did this in the 13 years they were in control, if the Conservatives wanted to destroy the NHS then they would have done so, the EU will certainly not look to support any NHS style health service as this is not the model throughout Europe and any attempt to introduce such a service would be financially crippling and impossible to service.

Your tendency to call anyone who disagrees with your view a twat, ****er, **** or other some form of invective and to be dismissively intellectually twatish about them is symbolic of your own bollockheadeness, if the EU is so ****ing good move to Greece and enjoy the benefits of membership as they do.

I think it depends where you are in the country. The burnt hand often teaches best. I know in many of areas of my city - mass immigration, whether it is from the EU or not, has ruined communities and just increased segregation. You might not have it in Newcastle or parts of the North East but in parts of the Midlands its been hit hard - extremely hard.

Well that's ridiculous. Are you blaming the EU for the fact the Midlands isn't as white as some people would like it?!

The Midlands is home to Asians, not Europeans, so it's an erroneous example and just proves my point it's UK Governmental failure, not EU failure <doh>

Well, quite simply, anybody who votes out is a twat <laugh>

Yeah we've only been in the EU for decades, but NOW they want to destroy our NHS <wah>
Unless you weren't paying attention, the junior doctors weren't striking because George Osborne and Cameron are pro NHS.

I mean seriously, you piss on your obvious intellect by voting out.

Funny how the Doctors got an agreement and are now so quiet, thought it was about patient safety but then they got an agreement on money in the end, if the NHS was so under threat how come they are not out in the streets screaming to remain as well? as for piss you don't half take it.

Well in truth I am winding you up a bit <laugh>

when you play the race card you have lost the arguement
What race card am I meant to have played? Do you mean asking if you are a nationalist or xenophobe? It's a very pertinent question in this referendum because an awful lot of people in this country are xenophobes and nationalists and are voting out for that very reason. Some are even outright racists but I wouldn't make that assumption about anyone on here. There is an increasing trend in the UK, and around the world I think, towards nationalism and away from internationalism and I think most people are voting on that basis. I'm more internationalist; I am assuming your more of a nationalist?

I disagree with Schengen being forced upon us if we stay. They would have already done it if it was a major issue to them and it's entire existence is under question anyway with the terrorism issues on the continent. I just don't agree and I'm sure the veto would still exist. There are some benefits from leaving on illegals but to me personally I don't see it as a huge issue. Can it be improved upon? Of course but I don't think we need to leave the EU on that issue alone.

Overall, you weigh up the things we'd benefit from and things we'd lose from staying/leaving, and what we'd gain from exiting doesn't outweigh what we'd lose. To me anyway, and I've honestly tried to look at the whole thing objectively.

I must say, though, that I am getting the feeling the leave vote will narrowly win and Prime Minister Johnson and Chancellor Gove will be running the show by the end of the month. I do wonder if Cameron and Osborne will try to cling to power though because they have no shame - I guess it will come down to whether they can still get legislation passed by their own party?

My understanding of negotiating new deals in the EU would be that we would be negotiating with the EU as a whole and not individual countries so it would probably be unlikely there would be a free trade deal so, don't worry, you can still buy that Audi R8 you've had your eye on, it will just cost, say, 10% more. EDF as an example doesn't work I think because the energy they produce/sell us is not imported. I don't think there's a suggestion foreign companies will pull out (not in that sector anyway) although if they sell less because of trade tariffs then they could I suppose.
