As much as the brexiters want to talk about immigration and the abstract concept of 'getting our country back'. It all comes down to the economy, and everything else flows from that, whether we like it or not. The economy permeates every aspect of politics as it is basically politics, managing the flow of resources. Every authority on the economy from the Institute of fiscal studies, to the World bank, to the Bank of England to independent think tanks all predict that the economy will take a hammering. So much so, that the £8bn we'd save not paying into the EU would be offset by £20bn-£40bn loss to our economy. To me it's utter madness to leave the EU on this point alone.
