DD never had a chance with the that Dinosaur! What the fu*k have Liverpool done this season to warrant so many players in the squad, When the Champions of England can only supply a bench warmer! pity for Simpson, Albrighton and DD that they don't play for Liverpool!
L.. one more thing on this ... if (big if) we progress through the group stages and come up against France, who would be best placed to counter N'Golo Kante having trained with the little man all season ... Lurching Hendo? Fragile Jack? Lost Boy Woss? not, god forbid, Fat Boy Dim.or Lallana Bananaskin.. answers on a postcard ... Woy is a gutless ****
... he may still have to go out there when the inevitable 'strain in training' occurs to one of the sicknotes ... hope he tells Hodgson to do one should that happen...
Someone had an inside track methinks ... Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Newcastle winger Andros Townsend fear they will be left out when England coach Roy Hodgson names his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016. (The Times - subscription required)
I would have taken both Wilshere and Sturridge would have dropped for me. Both will be crocked by next week
And Wilshire and Sturidge have! What a bunch of bullshit! Time to go Woy, you won't win anything with names.
Absolute joke. England can f*** off, I'll watch Vardy (if he gets on) with interest but I really hope we fail as per the World Cup
It shows the negative football that England will play this summer, a bunch of midfielders that will look sideways or backwards
I do find the Drinkwater exclusion as stupid as I find it surprising. Would be starting alongside Dier in my favoured first 11.
Think for the first time in my life I will be investing in one of those stupid half and half scarf's anyone know were I can get one with Wales and France on.
I'm thinking of joining in with the neighbours and supporting the Irish, that's buy one get one free as well... I wish Kante & King all the best but I cant cheer on the Welsh or French
Words of wisdom from Roy... Hodgson: "I'm comfortable that, whatever way we want to play, we'll be covered. Systems wins you nothing. Football players win you games." Hey, does anybody remember that Premier League season when that team with no "big names" and a system won the title?
I'm trying to make sense of the fact why DD wasn't selected, and, even allowing for a certain natural bias, I just can't come up with any logical footballing reason. I totally disagree with the decision to pick Rashford. At the moment he is just a half season wonder. His inclusion probably reflects the lack of quality English strikers, but didn't affect the decision as to whether or not to take DD. As a defensive midfielder he was surely in contention with Dier, Henderson, Milner and Wilshere. Personally I haven't seen enough of Dier to comment on how the two compare, but the decision to take Wilshere after playing only a few minutes football last season beggars belief. And when it comes to comparing DD with the other two, then it becomes even harder to accept that he was left out. DD and Kante ran the midfield for us all last season, breaking up opposition attacks and getting the ball moving forward at pace. There was nobody did it better than those two, and as a result we beat 'bigger' and 'better' teams. I would rate DD as one of the most complete players with and without the ball that Leicester have ever had. His work rate is phenomenal, he reads the game so well and has great vision. In footballing terms on current form he leaves Milner, Henderson and Wilshere way behind. The only reason I can come up with taking Milner and Henderson is out of loyalty. Woy doesn't want to get rid of those players who played in most of the matches who got us to the finals, even though some of the performances were turgid and uninspiring (and that's being kind!) against opposition that should have been dispatched with ease. Loyalty is an admirable quality but, when it comes to trying to win football tournaments, I'm not sure it makes sense to include your 'favourites' at the expense of better players.
... couldn't agree more ... for me Woy has capitulated to the 'Big Club' bias ... DD has been exceptional all season ... Henderson has not, neither has Barkley... whilst Milner has never been better than an average utility player and got torn ragged against Sevilla in the Europey final ... Wooney has had to move to midfield because he is no longer sharp enough to be a frontline striker .. Wilshire is off the pace and not defensively minded ... Dier deserves his place by virtue of his full season, as does Alli and as did DD. ... Woy's protestations that it was a case of Rashford versus DD is bollox ... pure deflection ... Rashford should be in for Sturridge who, apart from a fine goal against Sevilla, joggeed about like a granny on a fun run for most of the game - he is just not match fit ... ,,, part of me, somewhat disingenuously I'll admit, would be wryly amused if one of Woys sicknotes gets an all too predictable 'strain' before the tournament starts ...
With the lack of quality in the squad I can see, to a certain extent (and not saying it's what I would've done in his position), in picking jack Wilshire. He does have qualities to his game that none of our other midfielders have. The issue that I have is that we have taken sooo many different players with fitness concerns. There is no way I would've taken Henderson for one. He has fitness concerns and frankly I think he has been quite poor when he has played, not anywhere near the standard of international football since the World Cup really. But then also to take as many strikers as we have considering we typically play a lone striker with wider players supporting is just frankly a head scratching decision. That implies he is gonna play strikers out of position from the get go.
