Plucking at straws lads? <laugh> I pity you if you've got nowt better to do than stew over our attendances.

We've go the final of the Capital One Cup, Quarter Final of the FA Cup, and an exciting 10 team relegation battle. But that's ok, you've got our attendances to worry about. It's a Mags life eh?<laugh>

Come on Bri.. 'exciting' relegation battle? Your arse will be hanging inside out for the rest of the season and you know it. :1980_boogie_down:

Or it might attract some attention.
"Daddy, come and look at this new bicycle rack! Can I have one?"
"Daddy, is that a real black hole?"

Would you boys take a cup win if it comes with relegation from the Prem?

If relegated, who do you think would stay and who would walk / be sold?

Also, who do you ideally want in the next round of the FA Cup out of the teams left in?

My landlord is a diehard Mackem and his answer to that very question last night was 'yes I'd take the cup win if it meant going down'. His logic was reasonable in that, SAFC have been relegated quite a bit in his lifetime and always bounch back.. but he was 4 the last time they won a trophy so that would be more of a rareity and therefore that bit more special. He said that the memory of a cup win will last a lifetime but promotions and relegations only last a few years.
Gotta say, I'd probably tend to agree with him.
The one caveat he put on it was that if it were a choice between doing a leeds and winning a cup or staying up nd winning nowt.. he'd rather it be nowt that 'a Leeds'.

Hmmm. Good point. I can see the attraction if taking a cup if you think you'd bounce back up from relegation. But would I want long term mediocrity in the Prem vs a piece of silverware and then free-falling into oblivion? I shall have to meditate on this conundrum.

Obviously I'd take survival over cups any day, however, fortunately, i have no say in the future so just sitting back and enjoying the ride in what is one hell of an exciting, interesting and relevant season for us.

If we drop we've got 6 top earners out of contract and five loan players returning to their parent clubs, that will help massively regarding having the resources to keep hold of our better players, not that there'd be many good ones left. Then It's a matter of convincing them players to stay.

Would Ellis hang around if you did drop though?
Seems a proud sort of chap so I'd assume he would.
