Suggested by one of the lads on the best XI thread, i picked it up, be a timely reminder just how far we've come!

As a start, i'm putting down my team for my Sunderland supporting life (last 23 years)

GK - KELVIN DAVIS- Couldn't catch herpes in the Bigg Market

DF - GARETH HALL - No explanation needed.
DF - PAUL McSHANE - See Gareth Hall
DF - RUSSELL ANDERSON - As much value for money as a City Rover
DF - DANNY SIMPSON -I may be stirring here ;)

MF - JEFF WHITLEY -This man was not a footballer.
MF - NICOLAS MEDINA -'The 'new Maradona', was a typo, surely? Could he sing...
MF - IAN RODGERSON - Made running look a difficult skill.
MF - DICKSON 'second touch is a tackle' ETUHU - See nickname

CF - LILLIAN LASLANDES - Big reputation, big money **** player.
CF - JON STEAD - Was a great defender, for the opposition.

Feel free to tell me i'm wrong, if you stop shuddering before June.

The plan will be to count the votes, and replace where required from my team, with players going back a few years further.

Hall, McShane and Whitley are fixed, just so you know ;)

If the player is from many moons ago, help me out with a position for voting, as i may not know them, i was brought up believing everyone who ever played for Sunderland before my time was Pele-esque... Cheers Granda.

Must be an age thing....

Can you remind me please, who/when/what/where - Ian Rodgerson ?

:)

I remember Paul Lemon inexplicably scoring from 25 yards out and just as the cheering died out a voice from the back of the Clock stand shouted 'Good goal, Lemon, but yer still fooking shi*e'. Nobody disagreed.
The worst SAFC team should be made up of the McMenemy team and no-one else. Except perhaps Tore Andre Flo.

One great thing is that none of our current squad is in the nominees....we are improving.

Aaaaaaargh! None of our present squad would even make the youth team in this list of tossers. David Healy would look like Nat Lofthouse next to some of what we've had (anyone remember Willie McPheat? - built like George Foreman and played football like him). We're now SELLING players who wouldn't get on this list - witness PDS. How lucky we are today!

I thought about Nunez, it was a toss up between them 2, we'll see how the voting goes!

It’s hard to differentiate between the two, both were ****………… which was worse? I’d have to go with stead…… he was more of the diarrhea variety of ****…… all over the place

I've just stumled on this
you want a poor goalkeeper

Trevor Swinburne or Swineburne as we called him when I was younger
I wasn't overly impressed by Mart Poom either
and you've forgot Doug Colins...boy was he awful
Rod Belfitt

Mart Poom was alright wasn't he? I could see Bridcutt in a worst Sunderland XI.

Congratulations on resurrecting a four year old thread btw.

Bizarre. Joined the forum yesterday and first post is to resurrect a four year old thread <laugh>. Well, whatever floats your boat, welcome all the same <cheers>

Burnt Arse is up there with Chocolate Fireguard for **** Reid signings

Lionel Perez was a nut-job keeper. a bit like Nuggsy was a defender. heart in mouth stuff at times, but great entertainment/comedy value.

Kevin Kyle up top with Paul Stewart. ****ing dire.
