Suggested by one of the lads on the best XI thread, i picked it up, be a timely reminder just how far we've come! As a start, i'm putting down my team for my Sunderland supporting life (last 23 years) GK - KELVIN DAVIS- Couldn't catch herpes in the Bigg Market DF - GARETH HALL - No explanation needed. DF - PAUL McSHANE - See Gareth Hall DF - RUSSELL ANDERSON - As much value for money as a City Rover DF - DANNY SIMPSON -I may be stirring here MF - JEFF WHITLEY -This man was not a footballer. MF - NICOLAS MEDINA -'The 'new Maradona', was a typo, surely? Could he sing... MF - IAN RODGERSON - Made running look a difficult skill. MF - DICKSON 'second touch is a tackle' ETUHU - See nickname CF - LILLIAN LASLANDES - Big reputation, big money **** player. CF - JON STEAD - Was a great defender, for the opposition. Feel free to tell me i'm wrong, if you stop shuddering before June. The plan will be to count the votes, and replace where required from my team, with players going back a few years further. Hall, McShane and Whitley are fixed, just so you know If the player is from many moons ago, help me out with a position for voting, as i may not know them, i was brought up believing everyone who ever played for Sunderland before my time was Pele-esque... Cheers Granda.
Sorry BB, but I have to put in Colin Waldron as a central defender. In my naive teenage years I did indeed think every Sunderland player was Pelè-esque. I went to every game and worshipped them all. But even I remember Waldron as ****e. He would, ahem, bring the ball out of defence, and, er, just stop, look around, wonder who to pass it to, smoke a ***, read War & Peace, till the opposition tried to get the ball off him (you get the idea). My all time worst player. And you, through this thread, have made me remember him! I won't get to sleep all weekend and will have to make an appointment with a psychiatrist first thing Monday morning ;-)
Ha, for that my man, i apologise This is true, hence why this is actually a POSITIVE thing to do. No current players will even be murmured, this will show the progress we have made, and continue to make
Milton Nunez and the defence that got thrashed 7-1 off Everton... LB - Ian Harte CB - Higginbottom (not actually that terrible a player but didn't exactly inspire his fellow defenders) CB - Mcshane ... RB - Nyron (for generally halving my life expectancy) I would also mention Patrice Carteron but he scored that immense goal v the Mags to firmly secure him into Sunderland folklore!!
I doubt that very much, you require a brain for that, and sadly I think thats one thing you are definitely lacking.
i would have to agree 100% with gareth "headless chicken" hall. and a name for geordie_butt_boy, remember Ignacio González? the youtube wonder
I've been busy for the past couple of days, and checked in last night to catch up on the craic. I foolishly checked out this thread (as I'm a grown man and do not scare easily) but the next thing I knew was looking up at my living room ceiling with a couple of strangers dressed in paramedic uniforms bending over me with one saying....... "We've got him back"!! After a night of observation in the General, they discharged me early doors - something about needing the trolley?? This is the type of irresponsible piece that should NEVER be allowed on a SAFC supporters forum. Apart from the physical dangers, the doc says I now have to arrange therapy sessions for the inevitable PTSD that will follow. I intend to be consulting my lawyers on Monday morning to pursue BB (and Syd) through the courts with an action in Tort. If others have experienced anything similar, then pm me so we can see if we can organise a class action? I hope EDF take another 3 payments rather than a refund and you're left in the Caribbean skint - you t****r BB
Worst player I've ever seen was the Ginger ninja Tom Lynch, one appearance and ball went through his legs to let Shrewsbury score iirc.
To any newcastle fan the record away win in top flight football is Newcastle United 1 - Sunderland 9 and newcastle got their one from a dubious penalty so you should sttop your silly rantings
I remember Nyron's debut, coming as a sub for Stephen Wright. Turned to my pal and said "that's got to be the worst player I've ever seen in a Sunderland shirt". To be fair, he did improve. Some other worst ever suggestions - Sean Cunnington, Steve Berry, Steve Doyle, Thomas Hauser, Seamus McDoughnut. I'm sure I could think of more!
..........Heavy Night out last night........Just woken up......and.......Im havin a nightmare..........
