Also from a Cherries forum.

I think you are right to much loyalty to some players. We know some decisions have been forced on Eddie due to injuries. Also some players not performing to our expectations. But he went to the old guard too much, we have young eager players waiting for their chance . We don't know of what decisions of premier league holds to continue or not. If they decide to continue, players have to step up to the mark & give there best. Hopefully most of the players will have recovered from their injuries.

There's a lot more. I'll caveat by saying most Cherries fans knew their place and were fans of Eddie and what he did for them, but the complaints about Howe were spooky - his loyalty to mates (backroom and on the pitch), tactical rigidity, injuries, never playing young/preferring old guard and perpetually promising to 'review the issues' - injuries mostly, but defensive frailties fairly common.

That article is a great find, GG - but did you also click the link to the forum? The comments are unbelievable:

Who's "Head of Performance" at Bournemouth in 2019 when these comments were made? Daniel Hodges. Here's his LinkedIn profile - no prizes for guessing where he now works:

Others from that relegation era at Bournemouth now at Newcastle?

- Jason Tindall (assistant)
- Simon Weatherstone (assistant)
- Stephen Purches (coach)
- Johnny King (physio)

Weirdly a lot of people who were involved in the issues of 2019, involved in Newcastle now.
And this is exactly why I posted however I am gobsmacked at how many have come to us after past failures and history is repeating itself.

Howe likes to surround himself with his own people..

Jesus Christ history is repeating itself.

This is alarming how relevant the article I posted was (without me actually realising the scale of it).

Howe is a one trick pony.

Yep, you did good mate!

Weird that this level of dilligence was done by a fan on a forum. There are multi-millionaires, hugely successful people, who don't appear to bother.

If Howe couldn't identify that Hall was a better player than Dan Burn I'm asking people what that actually tells us?

Don't think it's a case of Howe not being able to see their quality but Hall is only 19 and has only recently changed from CM to LB in the last few years so like most 19 year old's there is a lot to learn especially with a new position to learn.

Bruno wasn't chucked in from the start, Gordon wasn't - these are two of our best players this season who needed time to adapt and get familiar with the tactics etc. Gordon was a prime example - wasn't fit enough to play to the standard required and took 6 months to get into the team, Hall looked like he was blowing by the time he came off on Tuesday so it could be a combo of new position, fitness requirement and tactical understanding that he's being held back for now.
Regardless we've committed £30m odd quid on the lad and Howe himself has said he'll be here for a long time.

Anyway what I'm basically saying is that I believe Howe needs to do things differently because his huff and puff Bielsa like approach has completely failed....hopefully he can do that, but I see no sign of any awareness or acknowledgement that he might even need to.

A complete failure? What would your definition of success have been at the beginning of the season?

We've battered Villa and PSG this season, beaten Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Chelsea, we were a whisker away from qualifying from one of the hardest groups the CL has ever seen, our goal difference is the 6th best in the league and finally, despite being ravaged by one of the worst injury crisis I've ever seen at any club, have European qualification next season well in our own hands with favorable fixtures compared to those around us.

Dissappointing? Possibly. Frustrating, certainly! A complete failure? Not in a month of Sundays has this season (or the 18 months prior to it) been a failure of any sort.

I'm talking in relation to the management of the squad. I'm saying his style of play and overly intense approach has failed.

It's ok if people don't agree but that is my position and has been since November.

But it hasn't at all. We are 8th with a game in hand on 7th and still in with a shout of 6th at present.

6th is a completely positive achievement this season, 7 would be fine, 8th frustrating and disappointing with no Europe but not a failure, if we finished 9th I'd be pissed but in the grand scheme wouldn't be a failure in my eyes with the way the seasons gone and injuries etc.

Maybe 10th and below you could stat calling that a failure but we're probably as likely to finish 6th as 10th at this moment in time.

There are many ways to skin a cat and Eddie has his way, and it's getting results - easy safety first half season, 2nd season CL, 3rd season on the cusp of Europe again - nothing in the last 30 months has been a failure.

The league place isn't relevant... the players have been driven into the ground like tent pegs and the Injuries and fatigue issues have cost the club.

I'm talking specifically about Howes management of this aspect of his job and I'm saying a new approach is required.

I don't think it's all just luck and I keep saying it's fine for other people to think it is.

Howe will get another season at least and many of us may be eating humble pie

Maybe yes that's a definite possibility and the cult will let us all know. It'll be they are sick of the I told you so stuff if it's the other way around though<laugh>
