Just for the record, I'd rather all illegal people were stopped or returned ...

... sadly the government seem incapable f either.
I’m the same mate but I still can’t get my head around what they do, if I was safe in France I wouldn’t come across the English Channel in a dingy with hundreds of other people unless they’ve been brainwashed before they sail. There has to be another reason than what we are told, The RNLI have said when they rescue a dingy they throw there passports/identity and phones in the sea, why would they do that if they have family here and are fleeing?

Really, I hadn't seen that ....

It was on the BBC news when they first started coming in after the lorry route was stopped.

No, didn't see it, doesn't make sense.

Why bother bringing your documents in the first place and why throw phones away ...

... the vast majority are processed and accepted anyway, phones can be wiped and they're not proof of identity either.

I had a French phone for years despite being English, all the info was on the chip which could be hidden in the crack of my arse if I'd wanted to ...

... probably the whole phone to be honest <laugh>

I don’t know but it’s the same when they shoot a terrorist they always seem to have all there documents on them<doh> as if they could give a s hit about having documents.

Are you really comparing armed terrorists to men, women and children clinging to overloaded dinghies in clear view of the authorities.

I just searched BBC News for 'migrants phones passports' and this was all that came up ...

... unlawful to seize phones or demand PINS so no reason to throw them away.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-60880587.amp

In all honesty I doubt anyone on an RNLI dinghy, approaching migrants in the Channel, could claim to be able to see something, as small as a phone, being slipped into the sea.

They did say why but I can’t remember to tell the truth. Do the traffickers who put them on the boat tell them they need them and when they get here the other traffickers tell them to lob them incase they are coming from somewhere there is no trouble and they won’t be allowed in?

People-smugglers encourage migrants to destroy ID papers because it boosts their chances of securing asylum and makes it hard to deport them as officials have nowhere to send them.24 Feb 2022
The Government aims to tackle the problem of asylum seekers deliberately destroying or disposing of their travel and identity documents and refusing to co-operate with the re-documentation process in order to prevent removal.

Men, men and more men. 87.4%, in fact.

I know it's a different culture (and frankly, if you're willing to leave your wife and kids to get over, not the kind of culture we want people from. Save that one for the racism accusations ;) )but bloody hell.

Those who answer the question “ why the Uk” often give the answer “ because they have family/friends here”- followed up with we can save the hotel bill by allowing them to go and stay/live with their contacts while being processed . We would need to safeguard against pretend relatives and disappearing , so would it be unreasonable to say ok on condition you wear a tag ?

I would imagine they would just cut them off. Maybe not.

No idea why they do that. Anybody else know?

Sorry I thought you were saying there's loads of people doing it according to the RNLI and BBC ...

... if I'd known it was Farage that would've made sense.

'The RNLI have said when they rescue a dingy they throw there passports/identity and phones in the sea.'

I've heard that the ringleaders use 'burner phones' and thatv may be one on your clip, but I didn't see any passports or mass action.

It’s the same reason the Albanians choose to enter the UK rather than a legal flight which is cheaper, they are probably hiding a criminal past

Still no word on banana republic or warzone experience from those who can't stop using those words, I see.
