Dr Strangelove (how I learned to stop worrying and love Boris)

2 months ago Starmer was favoured by 34% as next PM, Sunak was 22%. It is now 30% to 26%. Probably explains the panic at Labour HQ. Now we will see if Starmers hypocritical weekend closes the gap further or not.
I think what's happening in Scotland will still see Labour over the line. I'm far from convinced they'll win with a majority, now.

Nows the time for the Liberals to step up, they have never had such an opportunity as they have right now if they get it right

They have had the opportunity and they used it to climb into bed with the Tories. We're a decade on from that and maybe it's long enough for people to give them a second chance. I think what they did largely cemented our political system as a two party system.

If they're still going to use returning to the EU as part of their manifesto, they're alienating far too many of the electorate. I vote for them in the locals, but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pull in the GE whilst they're maintaining that stance. Remove it and they'll have my vote, too.
Exactly maté that’s how me and the missus vote as well. Not a chance for the main election though.

As much as I despise the Tories and I’ve supported Labour my whole life, it’s pissed me right off and will have done for many others like me. There was no need to make it a personal attack on Sunak.

Starmer stupidly standing by it has just made things worse. However…there is a long way to go and I’m hoping this is just a bump in the road.

Is there any way the government could've made a bigger mess of this 'prestige project and so called levelling up <doh>

When they were putting forward the argument that HS1 should happen because it would be the best thing ever , they talked not only about HS2 , but also HS3 - up to the north east. Of course we all knew that we’d never see that up here.

Was never going to come to the "Desolate Wastelands of North East England" in a million years. More likely fracking or storage of radioactive waste <laugh>

Levelling up will never happen either, it's a joke tbh ...

... the NE is more likely to fall further back as things stand.

In 2014 Cameron and Osborne said £290m was set aside to dual A1 Morpeth to Ellingham , 13 miles. - and it would be complete in 6 years.
Govt is still picking at it and constantly delaying . They prob hope we’ll just forget

By the way, whatever happened to "The Northern Powerhouse", (or "Northern Poorhouse" as Dennis Skinner called it) ? Was it superceded by "Levelling Up" or did they run in conjunction with one another? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It wont happen mate. Labour have pledged to scrap it and replace it with 'Take back control' when they take office. The irony eh. One slogan to another, one aimless political party to the next.

It's the same nonsense as Boris 'building 40 new hospitals' despite thousands of doctors and nurses leaving the profession. Who would he staff them with ...

... probably do what they always do, blame the workers and bring in the army <doh>

The whole thing was pointless from the start as far as value for money was concerned. Who was it supposed to be for?

It would make it easier for housewives to go to London for Les Miserables I suppose ...

... or save people that critical twenty minutes getting to their desk <doh>

It was a stupid idea, with minimal value. Sadly the Labour party have committed to deliver it in full, spending whatever is needed, rather than reign it back in when money would be more usefully spent elsewhere.
