Rishi can now get up at PMQs on Wednesday and link Jimmy Savile to Starmer and Labour haven't got a leg to stand on.

    How's about that then?

I think in a nutshell it doesn't matter who the party's are, or you own political leanings, most politicians are only in it for themselves.

Sure some may enter politics thinking they can cjanhe/improve the world but the corruption that has been inherent since the dawn of time soon affects the majority of them in my opinion.

A politician is only as good as his/her actions not their words

But isn't this about linking past Tory failures to Sunak though?

How do you think that's gone when you have to bring up Johnson as the first line of defense?

I cannot believe what I have read from Starmer this morning. I honestly thought, after everything he has said about decency and standards, he was letting this stick for a few days for impact, then he would reign everybody in again. What a bloody hypocrite.

I am not sure I have the stomach for the next 12 months now. We know the tories are a low bar sleazy bunch. Now we know Labour are a low bar sleazy bunch too. I dont want to read one more advert on who likes or dislikes child abusers more between the two leaders of our two leading political parties. I have personally never seen anything this horrendous.

I appreciate 100% the need for change. The tories are done. Ask yourselves though, do you really want a govt and a PM like this lot. The argument they are just doing what the tories do doesnt wash with me. Labour are so far ahead in the polls they can be the party of decency and standards they claim to be, and win handsomely. They can enter govt with principles. I am afraid for me they are showing themselves up for what they are, which is the same low bar rubbish the tories are.

    It really is depressing.

Labour trying their best to shoot themselves in the foot it seems, for **** sake. I’ll still be voting for them as it’s the best chance to get these twats out but no need to sink to Tory sleaze standards.

I can respect that opinion mate. If Labour voters at least let them know this sort of rubbish is disliked it might make a a difference before they get used to behaving like it and being told it is ok to do.

It's not Labour voters who Labour need to win over. They need to win the floating voters and sadly the those voters have shown that they vote for this kind of politics.

Maybe labour voters will be put off by this sort of campaigning? Maybe some floating voters, who have rallied to Starmers decency, will now walk away from him? There is a level of gamble here somewhere I think.

I disagree to some extent. I think most floating voters float because they reject the more extreme positions that the two main parties, at times, can occupy. They are mostly centrists who just want to see common sense and decency from whoever is in power. Starmer appeared to be leading the party back to the centre ground which would almost guarantee votes due to the recent state of the Conservatives. These 'dirty' tactics will be very distasteful to many of those people.

The latest poll to be conducted was between 5-7 April posted by The Observer.

    Conservatives - 30%
    Labour - 41%
    Lib Dems - 10%

The Observer also done an opinion poll at the end of March. That had Labour on 44%. Dropped 3 points in a week.

We'll see the results of this weekend next week. Dropping under 40% would put them in reach. It looks like the electorate are beginning to want a little bit more than 'we're not Tories'.

I’ve changed my mind about Labour walking the next election, I am sure others have as well.

2 months ago Starmer was favoured by 34% as next PM, Sunak was 22%. It is now 30% to 26%. Probably explains the panic at Labour HQ. Now we will see if Starmers hypocritical weekend closes the gap further or not.

I cant believe how an advert like that can pass through so many hands and end up getting stuck up on my local bus stand without even one person suggesting that it is not a good idea. Totally misreading the room. We are sick of this sort of politics. Labour had a chance of moving us away from this. Total **** up.

Nows the time for the Liberals to step up, they have never had such an opportunity as they have right now if they get it right

    Mind boggling mate. Absolutely idiotic.

What is worse is now Starmer is defending it. He is the next PM. No doubt people will think we shouldnt judge him or his party either until the GE starts, or he is in number 10. He has shown us all what to expect now.

If they're still going to use returning to the EU as part of their manifesto, they're alienating far too many of the electorate. I vote for them in the locals, but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pull in the GE whilst they're maintaining that stance. Remove it and they'll have my vote, too.

They're still knackered by their Brexit stance.

The vast majority of this country is politically homeless and voting for someone holding their nose, and there's still no chance for a genuine alternative.
