of course he wouldn't, I was being a little flippant. It is a difficult situation and Saints are run like a business now. My point is that salary is often included in part of the club's valuation of a player and Cortese will be taking that in to account, if indeed he has set a value - we don't know what that is yet.
So, by this logic, if you purchased a new car before you sold your old car, you would be prepared to sell your old car for lower than its value???
No, by my logic if you bought a car, put loads of miles on the clock, and then decided you didn't need it anymore, its value would naturally have decreased and no reasonable person would expect to buy it off you for the same price you originally paid for it. But it's really a pretty tortured analogy. The car doesn't have the will to leave you and it's not costing you 8 grand a week while it sits in your garage, for starters.
I was not aware there were lots of miles on the clock with the player... Unlike most cars - players values increase aswell as decrease... Cortese is not stupid - he knows the cost of the wages and is not likely to have a liability on his cash sheet for his own personal pleasure - therefore he will do the best for the club - and the fact the window shuts at the end of august suggests it is the player who will buckle first as he is more likely to take a cut the closer it gets if he wants to play football... As for Dickson - tough **** ... he was happy signing the contract, happy taking his wages and if he wants to engineer a move he may need to be somewhat flexible. I think this situation shows just how far our club has come in a very short space of time. There - argument settled.
How do you know how much other teams have offered ? Or even if there has been offers?. Whatever is happening Dickson is being a idiot for airing his views in public. Saints pay his wages so he should at least bite his tongue. Why should Saints be held to ransom by a player that says "he just wants to play". He should either wait until a fee is accepted or help get his contract cancelled. It's not like he is a poor bastard isit?. Football players have to much power, their all happy go when things go their way. Happily accepting a massive wage to hardly play or play on loan(were i bet we still payed his wages). Then when they want their own way they bitch and moan in public insted of sorting it out themselfs.
So we're agreed it's a poor analogy then Billyvegas It all depends on who exactly is refusing to budge. If Dickson is refusing to take a pay cut to join Yeovil then he can't really complain, but if the club is refusing to sell him that's another matter. The fact he is complaining points to it being the latter.
