The December 75 team was our super team as it was the 75/76 season that we were 14 minutes from the title......... 76/77 was when it first started to go down hill a bit as Gerry missed half a season through injury...... Also I just realised that the programe team posted by Hammersmith was from the cup tie in 1970 when Dave Mackay kicked Rodney from pillar to post but also scored an own goal.........
It’s weird not having a game until Monday. Am I right in thinking we will still be in the top six when we kick off, regardless of how all the other games go?
Think that's right Stan as Stoke are playing Blackburn tomorrow and they are 6th & 7th so worse we can be is 6th at 5pm tomorrow night.......
I did wonder why I only knew half the team and did think it was 75 when we were at our best. I remember from about 73
Maybe I did go from 69 onwards when I was 6. I remember being in the back of my dads car after the game with Sugar Sugar on the radio
Random thought: Who was that completely bald headed player we had, around about 2009. He played Derby away where we were 1-0 down for most of the match and he scored a late equaliser, felt like a win. And he hardly ever scored. I'm pretty sure he was wearing this kit that year and might have been last season with Cookie? please log in to view this image
Around that time as I remember being second year of uni was the game we dicked them 4-2 from 2-0 down. Mahon got one of them.
Yes, it was Mahon. I'm mixing up my games. Can't remember when we got a last minute 1-1 draw. I liked Mahon. He was obviously getting old but seemed a good guy and was useful.
We drew 1-1 at home with them in 2010, but Cook scored our goal and we were 1-0 up. I think the bald player your thinking of is indeed Mahon, but I can't recall the 1-1 away scoreline you mention ! We did them 4-2 where Mahon scored a year earlier I think. The famous 2-2 away came a year later where Mackie scored in added time and we went on to be champions !
Flight due to land at 4pm to Heathrow giving me just under four hours to get through the airport, get home and get to Derby. Feels unlikely. Bought a kids ticket for the ten loyalty points just in case
