Match Preview;
Derby, after their 12 point deduction for going into administration, and then further 9 point deduction for historical financial breaches, now, after 4 wins, and 10 draws, sit bottom of the table with 1 point. Without the points reduction, they'd be 19th. We can debate the rights and wrongs of their points deduction elsewhere (personally, I think it is kicking a man whilst he is down, and it punishes the fans for the wrongs of the owners). Their latest game was an impressive 0-0 draw away to league leaders, Fulham. Their top scorer is Tom Lawrence, with 4 goals. Looking through their squad, they have some experienced players, in the likes of Phil Jagielka and Colin Kazim-Richards, and also a good group of young players in the mix. Ravel Morrison is with them now too. Interesting to see, he scored 6 goals for us during his 15 game loan spell. That is the most he's scored for any club, and in total he's scored 15 goals during his career. Seems we saw the best of him, but hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.
As for us, after a good win on Wednesday night, we now sit 4th, top of the chasing pack and only a point behind West Brom. Seems we have some grit and determination when we play, and even when we don't dominate the matches, we manage to weather the odd storm, and then Charlie is always there to take his chance and bag us the win. Lovely stuff. Having the weekend off, and an extra day, will hopefully give time for Dykes, Austin and co to have a bit of a break, and go into Monday night fully recovered and ready to go. Plus, we are then not playing until Sunday, so a good amount of time between games.
Team News:
QPR: Sam McCallum will miss out for the R’s, whilst Moses Odubajo, Lyndon Dykes and Andre Gray are pushing for returns
Derby County: Liam Buchanan has picked up a knock, whilst Colin Kazim-Richards will be looking for a return.
Pre-match talk:
Mark Warburton (QPR Manager): “We’re showing more resilience and right now, we’re in a good place. But the league is so tight and we have to focus on what is going to be a really stern test at Pride Park.”
Wayne Rooney (Derby County Manager): “Every game in this division is tough, we know we will have to be at our best, but we will create chances and it’s about taking them.”
Enjoy those who'll be going, and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
