Or he has a drink problem.

Maybe he does, but even if he can't help drinking he still made that choice to get in his car and drive.

I feel sorry for him if he does have a drinking problem, it's not a nice thing to have to deal with but that doesn't give him the excuse to put other people's lives in danger by getting behind the wheel, hence I have no sympathy for him in this particular case, especially as he is a repeat offender.

Agree

100%. I know it’s not an exact science but isn’t the general guide that you lose a unit for every hour that you stop drinking? When I read that he stopped drinking at 10pm I assumed he was going to say he was driving at 5am. For him to be over the limit at midday he either didnt stop drinking at 10pm or he was absolutely ****ing battered from drinking all day.

Either way it shows what a pathetic excuse of a man he is that he’s lying to himself, to us or both.
if you assume that each pint is 2 to 3 units (depending on strength) then it means that if his body works as you say, which is what I understand, than he'd have been somewhere between 5 and 7 pints over the limit when he stopped drinking
bearing in mind that his body will have been getting rid of some during the night's drinking then it will have been something in excess of an 8 to 10 pint session
Fairly excessive, but not unprecedented, but he should have understood all that

No excuses, particularly someone who has been done before

Actually is it you take 1 drink off for every hour after you stop? Oh I don’t know and cba to look it up - if you’ve had 10 pints of lager at night then don’t drive the next morning.

Done.

You time from when you start drinking as that's when the body starts metabolizing the alcohol

http://whenwillibesober.com/

Its a very rough estimate, if in doubt don't drive

According to that calculator.

Started yesterday at 1300

12 pints

8 single spirits

Shouldn't drive until 0630 tomorrow.

That's providing you don't have any today.

I reckon many have unknowingly got behind the wheel over the limit.

The problem is some people think the drink fairy gives you a clean slate if you go to bed, have a sleep and wake up - even if it's only two hours since you got into bed pissed

Probably shouldn't admit to this but I can't read that web address without singing "when will I, will I be soooberrr" in my head.

Deano's some sort of paradox or oxymoron in that he's both an utter legend and an utter twat.

I never drink during the week. I drive a lot and it just isn't worth the hassle.

I know someone who worked for a drinks company and got stopped at lunchtime the following day after a works night out and he was twice the drink drive limit.

Got a drink driving ban and lost his job. The stakes are too high versus the risk.

If I’m driving lunchtime I’ll only have soft drinks. I never risk one or two as some do. I am more conscious of the morning after nowadays but think I must have been over the limit lots of times, especially if that calculator is close to being accurate.

When we had a pub on site, at work it was a regular occurence for many to have three or four at lunchtime & drive home a couple of hours later. You could also get a beer or wine at any of the restaurants on site & spirits at a couple of them. They used to provide beer & wine in meeting rooms, McKewens Export for the men, white or red for the women. 4000 alcos leaving work at 4. Roads were a nightmare.
