Aged 17 and of slim build (a very long time ago) I was stopped after 4 pints and failed the roadside breath test, arrested and taken to central and failed the breath test again and then was blood tested.
I found out weeks later I'd passed!!!! The police doctor just jammed the needle in my arm, pulled and it hurt like hell as he tried to withdraw my blood.
Maybe my skin mass filtered the alcohol out from the blood as it passed to the syringe from the blood vessel inches away from his badly aimed jab.
Good job I hadn't had a skinfull.....
Many years later a bit more portly I passed the new breathalyser after a 6 hour barbecue session on lager shandies. again I reckon equivalent to 4 pints but spread out over a long period.
In my late teens I reckoned I was a better driver after 3 pints. Times have changed, Nowadays I wouldn't dream about driving after even a couple of beers.
I'd just drive.

If I’m driving lunchtime I’ll only have soft drinks. I never risk one or two as some do. I am more conscious of the morning after nowadays but think I must have been over the limit lots of times, especially if that calculator is close to being accurate.

When we had a pub on site, at work it was a regular occurence for many to have three or four at lunchtime & drive home a couple of hours later. You could also get a beer or wine at any of the restaurants on site & spirits at a couple of them. They used to provide beer & wine in meeting rooms, McKewens Export for the men, white or red for the women. 4000 alcos leaving work at 4. Roads were a nightmare.
You're so spoilt Ben, all we get on site is the Fields van.

How many Steak & Ale pies am I allowed?
