I think the security guard failed in his duties, you can't get away from that. But as Stan says, this isn't about one security guard, this is about 300 million guns in the hands of the general public, it's inevitable that some of them are going to use them against innocent people and it will continue to be that way all the while Congressmen are taking back handers from the NRA.

As for Trump, the bloke is a grade A prick. He hasn't got a ****ing clue about how to handle this situation, so he's just reverting to what his financial backers are telling him to do, back the NRA, don't rock the boat, they give us too much money and they have an arms industry to protect. Even School kids being murdered in cold blood isnt' enough to change any of this, in fact it just bolsters their agenda as we're now hearing that schools are a 'dangerous place' precisely because there aren't enough guns <doh> It's ****ing madness.

The tide may be turning (long overdue) ... the big companies severing ties with the NRA may just be the catalyst needed for wholesale gun reform... note to American hunters ... deer find it difficult to operate firearms... you really don't need semi-automatic firearms, in case they get a bit pissed <cheers>

I think this generation coming up will eventually change the outdated and defunct 2nd amendment.

I heard on the radio today how a pistol has an effective capability of 25 yards or so for someone trained in how to use the weapon properly, but to have maximum effectiveness you need to be around 10-15 yards from the target to have a really effective response.

Set that against someone using an assault rifle spraying hundreds of bullets a minute.

Its a ****ing no brainer. I guess thats why they tell police units to wait for back-up.

I wasn't there. I can't and won't pre-judge the circumstances of that guys situation, where he was at the time, the logistics of the situation, etc.

But to call him out as a coward is utterly irresponsible and reprehensible. And for his president to do so represents a new new low I thought was beyond even Trump.

There's a simple solution for this, arm all teachers with RPG's.

It's bastards like you that make us all want to go fox hunting. :emoticon-0172-mooni

I don't think Trump said anything wrong here.

Let's not forget this officer knew the risks of the job he was doing when he signed up to it.

Had he not signed up to do that job, then another officer who might have actually done something would have been there, and may have saved some life's.

So I would go as far as to say that the officer in question, deserves some sort of legal action taken against him.

If anyone else had said this, no one would bat an eye lid, but because it's Trump, and everyone hates him, he's coming under criticism for it.

Not to mention the blatant hypocrisy from someone who turned dodging any type military service into an art form!

Apart from the Trump parts, i agree with all off this

I still think it's a big overreaction because Trump said it. You can do plenty of things in the military that don't involve combat anyways.

Let's not forget 17 people have died, and the officer who signed up to protect them failed to do anything.

So how do you expect the president to react?

As has been said, firstly nobody knows how they’d react until faced by the reality of confronting a person or even people ( he didn’t know) with an automatic weapon.

Secondly, the ****, Trump, is scoring cheap points at this guy’s expense. And for the devout coward that he is himself, that’s pretty rich!

What do I expect him to do? Act like a ****ing president, not like some witch hunting rabble rouser.
