I still think it's a big overreaction because Trump said it. You can do plenty of things in the military that don't involve combat anyways.

Let's not forget 17 people have died, and the officer who signed up to protect them failed to do anything.

So how do you expect the president to react?

Maybe with a bit off thought. A coward shouldn't really call another person a coward. Especially one that is so high profile.

As has been said, firstly nobody knows how they’d react until faced by the reality of confronting a person or even people ( he didn’t know) with an automatic weapon.

Secondly, the ****, Trump, is scoring cheap points at this guy’s expense. And for the devout coward that he is himself, that’s pretty rich!

What do I expect him to do? Act like a ****ing president, not like some witch hunting rabble rouser.

If you sign up to do a job like that, then you have to be prepared to act. If your having any doubts about wether you will act, then you step down from your position.

Let's not forget if that officer hadn't been there another officer that would probably have acted would have been there, and lives may have been saved.

As far as Trump being a coward himself, he may well be, I have no idea how he would react in that situation.

But I doubt if Trump had done military service, that he'd of been on the front line anyways.

Conjecture.

If,if, if...as I say, nobody knows how they’d react in that situation until they’re actually confronted with it.

Apart from that....

Well most of the people he has offended with this are the cowardly officer and the butthurt anti-trumps, so I'm ok with this.

As you were Donny boy.

I think the point is he’s not really an authority on engagement under fire. He got daddy to save him from the draft.

Exactly.

He’s a two faced, disengenuous ****, who’s happy to be scoring cheap political points off some guy who’ll regret what happened for the rest of his life. Whilst he made dodging mItitary service an art form.

Please see the picture in my last post for any further info. ...

He speaks for his people, not necessarily himself.

Also Trump would never have volunteered to do that job, as he obviously admits it's not his calling.

I don't get all the rattling.

Couldn’t disagree with you more on that one Tel!

By finally having the balls to confront the real issue - that's kids with assault rifles btw, not security guards with pop guns.

And the kids whose classmates got shot - they don't seem very happy with the President's response, or have you been too busy slating security guards to notice that? That being Trump's intention, btw, to point the finger of blame at the nearest scapegoat.

Please clarify for me. Is Trump allowed to have an opinion on the issue or does his failure to have served in the forces or have ever been under direct gunfire disqualify him? You can't have it both ways.

... not sure why Trump would have been given any 'special dispensation' if he had gone to Vietnam ... might have been wealthy but he was no national icon ...

Okay, let's keep it simple for you;

  • Donald Trump received millions (google the figure, it's ****loads) from the NRA during his election campaign.
  • The NRA aggressively lobbies for unrestricted public access to any and all firearms, including assault rifles.
  • Kids with assault rifles keep shooting other kids
  • Trump's response is to suggest arming teachers.
  • The civilised world howls with derision, and points out that there was already an armed security guard at the scene of the latest massacre
  • Trump points the finger of blame at said security guard, saying if he had watched more Bruce Willis movies, he'd have saved everyone like Bruce does.
  • Mugs like you lap up Trump's bullshit
  • Attention is diverted from the NRA
  • Job done, cheque signed
  • Trump and NRA execs jet off to play golf at Mar E Lago

You're struggling, clearly, with my use of the word 'most' aren't you lad? Sorry, I can't help you there.

Enjoy your day though all the same <ok>

Rattled.

The rattling is because he’s found a convenient scapegoat that’s diverted the chatter away from the prime issue, that being the availability of semi automatic weapons in the States. Trump is heavily backed by the NRA and his ‘solution’ of arming teachers, was probably one of the most stupid ****ing comments I’ve ever heard.

He chucked the security guard under the bus, to divert attention, and its seemingly worked.
