I heard on the radio today how a pistol has an effective capability of 25 yards or so for someone trained in how to use the weapon properly, but to have maximum effectiveness you need to be around 10-15 yards from the target to have a really effective response.

Set that against someone using an assault rifle spraying hundreds of bullets a minute.

Its a ****ing no brainer. I guess thats why they tell police units to wait for back-up.

I wasn't there. I can't and won't pre-judge the circumstances of that guys situation, where he was at the time, the logistics of the situation, etc.

But to call him out as a coward is utterly irresponsible and reprehensible. And for his president to do so represents a new new low I thought was beyond even Trump.

A 9mm round will kill at 100 yards for a top competent shooter, 50 yards for the average man, less for a noob. but yes they are designed for close quarter shooting.

You need to take into account where the bullet hits, a head shot will kill at 500 yards (if you could hit it)

He was a coward as the shooter would target the copper in-so saving others lives.

You have no idea what he went through in that scenario, labelling him a coward from your living room is dead easy wee man.
We know that Kustard is a real tough guy. He served his country as a top graded photocopy boy. The thick Brummie plank.

Any high calibre bullet that hits the human body anywhere has the potential to not only cause catastrophic damage, but can easily kill.

When I got my first gun in the US - it was on the advise and help of a Police detective - he got me a Smith & Wesson 357 ( sometimes called a magnum). His reasoning was that as I was a novice that all I had to do was point and shoot if I was attacked.

I can remember his words to me..he said..”with this you don’t have to be accurate. If you hit them anywhere, trust me they ain’t getting up”.

I can remember going to the police range with him and the recoil from this thing, it didn’t so much put holes in the target as blow lumps off it!..

and a Smith & Wesson 357 has a big caliber so the damage is much bigger than a 9mm, ever heard of the SAS double tap?

He would be trained and trained well, he hid from his duties so a coward.

What adult lets kids get killed when you can do something about it.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I'd be so forgiving about this guy if one of my kids had been killed and he'd seemingly backed out. He had a job to protect them kids and he bottled it. Trump shouldn't be calling him a coward in public, but...

If he earned 10 dollars an hour or 15 would it have made a difference?

It might have made some difference to the calibre of recruit.

The truth is, the security guard is a red herring - exploited by Trump to divert attention away from the real issue, which is the availability of military hardware to the general public.

Sounds like the security guard shat it. But the NRA is the problem here, not some minimum wage security guard.

... plus Trump is seething because it completely undermines his 'arm the teachers' "solution" ... what use is a teacher with a gun if they are too frightened to use it?

Exactly.

If there was a teacher with a gun they’d have shot the hell out of the shooter.

Er, Mr President, there was a security guard with a gun.

Yeah but he was a coward.

Right you are Mr. P, carry on. U S A.

People fall for this ****.
