Youngsters drank in my day, but were limited by money (don't tell me modern youngsters are hard up if they can get bladdered every weekend) and strength of alcohol (generally just beer in the 60s). I remember one guy was regarded as a bit poncie because he drank lager...young men wouldn't dream of drinking shorts then.

A young man died in Ibiza a few days back...he was described as a sensible guy who usually only drank 8 pints. That is not sensible if done regularly (i.e. not a one off night out)...that is borderline alcoholic and will definitely induce liver damage.

 

Bloody hell , why ?

 

Tobi Obiwale, who works in the hostel, said Mr Richardson mixed a whole bottle of white wine with a small bottle of vodka, a quarter bottle of whisky and a can of lager.

He said Mr Richardson collapsed within two minutes of drinking the one-and-a-half litre pitcher.

Allardyce still banging on about Carroll's red card. He hopes that this incident will have a profound effect on the system. West Ham seem to have convinced themselves that they have been the victim of a massive injustice...can only assume they have not looked at any videos of the incident. I gather their memory of the red card is that Carroll was floored by a round of machine gun fire and given a card whilst lying in a pool of blood. If you are going to fight the system, pick your fight better.

These dares are bad news , stating the obvious I know .

 

It's how this craze works. People are nominated by someone to neck a pint, then they in turn nominate like two or three people to do it too. People who don't do it are generally mocked an called a pussy. It's all done over Facebook.

 

At least pre-social media, you could only be encouraged or bullied by actual people.

 

I am a live pussy and I can tell you it is much nicer than be a dead fool.

The problem is the desire for fame, even for something seriously stupid. People who desire success by doing something worthwhile are derided these days.

 

I really don't understand it myself. Oh no, I better do it otherwise someone might call me gay!

 

Notice that in our everyday society the dare is to do something which doesn't actually involve effort or skill..?

You'd better mix the most hideous things together too.

And kill a chicken.

And eat its guts.

All whilst jumping into a lake.

 

I get dares ( I have done a few myself) but even dares can be over the top.

 

Examples..?

 

Running through town in just boxers or less.
Eating a hot chilli (which I like anyways)
Going out (fancy dress) in a dress.

And loads of over random stuff really.

 

There is courage and bravery and then there is stupidity and foolishness. The clever people do the former and complete idiots do the latter.

 

Yaya Toure will face no action after appearing to kick out at Van Wolfswinkel. That is going to piss off a lot of people.

 

Only used his shin, not his foot. I didn't think it was anything...and win-win if it pisses off Allardyce.
