Not much thinking going on here regarding the military junta. Basically they’ve shut down Bangkok so all the workers have no money or other option than to pour out of the capital to their family homes in the provinces. This has seen confirmed cases quadruple over the past few days and now are calling for a SOE to come into being on Thursday. Also talks of a curfew which is bound to happen. Stupid is as stupid does.

Have they closed down your restaurant yet mate? Not because of the virus, just for the sake of good taste :bandit:

I can do, but it won't help anyone as I quoted Paul Lewis on Money Box on BBC News. This is the only thing I can find now where he's quoted the Treasury but you'll need to scroll down to his replies.

Cheers mate. If that’s correct (I’m sceptical as he’s regurgitating hearsay) then at 80% of Feb earnings hourly paid workers are going to get goosed due to the fewer number of working days in Feb ffs. They should be using a quarterly average.

The trick with every media story is to ask some very simple questions.

  • What are the facts in what you are telling me as opposed to what you "understand" is the case?
  • Are you able to offer me any comparatives, or are you presenting me with the situation in isolation?
  • Are you working to a narrative?

What I have discovered, with most news stories of this nature, is that the media works with a narrative, with no comparatives, and with few, if any, facts. In other words, what we are presented with is propaganda not news. And when I see it, I dismiss it, and ask the question "Why do do want me to believe what you are trying to make me believe is true? "

Almost every news item on terrorism is presented in this manner, as was the Epstein story. And it's been exactly the same with this Coronavirus outbreak.

For wum purposes.

It's refreshing to note that I am never successful, though, Stan, and that you have the intelligence to see past it.

Think the Govt guidelines to the supermarkets on preventing overstocking are a tad over zealous .My reasoning behind this view is that when i tried to buy 5 loose mushrooms the online site advised me i could only have 3 as per the guidelines <laugh>
Mind you more seriously it did the same for milk which means i will just end up buying the larger size to ensure i won't need to shop for the whole of following week .

Wetherspoons firing all staff with immediate effect, they've been told to apply for jobs at Tesco.

Tim is such a great guy...
