Lots of people thinking they can just refuse to go to work and will then be paid 80% of their wages...

We’ve had loads of people not turn up to work and we’ve already started to get unions contact us to say they think we should pay people to not be at work despite the fact the services haven’t been suspended. ****ing ridiculous.

Nope as you don’t get 80% if you’re self isolating, you get ssp

When you mentioned in the previous post about not wanting to go to work and get 80% I swear the word "unions" came into my head immediately. Probably because of my bad experiences with union types who wouldnt lift a cup unless the contract specified it

And of course, Unions don't have to shell out for people "not wanting" to work if they can get someone else to shell out. Then the workers can still pay their dues :D

You should say "ok we'll look into getting the grant and them receiving it on 30th April"

They'll be back at work before you can say "lazy arsed ****s"

Since the services are continuing they aren’t entitled to the 80% so they’ll be told it’s a choice between working or we will consider they’ve handed in notice and aren’t working a notice period so won’t get any payment for termination of contracts. (Or words to that effect run through HR first of course!)

I expect most will decide to come back to work!

Some of these people provide services to key worker premises and are able to work entirely independently without contact with other people. Lazy arseholes.

Yeah the unions are being bastards already, no attempt to work with us just trying to demand we pay people to stay at home. No thought for the damage it’ll do to the company or the measures we’ve put in place that make their jobs very low risk.

Not much thinking going on here regarding the military junta. Basically they’ve shut down Bangkok so all the workers have no money or other option than to pour out of the capital to their family homes in the provinces. This has seen confirmed cases quadruple over the past few days and now are calling for a SOE to come into being on Thursday. Also talks of a curfew which is bound to happen. Stupid is as stupid does.

yeah, I know, but the BBC wouldn't let me comment on the original story, so I just had to wait until someone posted soemthing similar so I could write it.

I know mate, thick as pigshit. They didn't even bother to check with you where they stood, just made the decision themselves. Fckwits.

And these idiots must think they'll be getting this 80% tomorrow. It's a fck of a long wait tbh even if it did apply.

There are plenty out there being laid off, dying to be in their position. They should be bloody grateful.

  20. The trick with every media story is to ask some very simple questions.

    • What are the facts in what you are telling me as opposed to what you "understand" is the case?
    • Are you able to offer me any comparatives, or are you presenting me with the situation in isolation?
    • Are you working to a narrative?

What I have discovered, with most news stories of this nature, is that the media works with a narrative, with no comparatives, and with few, if any, facts. In other words, what we are presented with is propaganda not news. And when I see it, I dismiss it, and ask the question "Why do do want me to believe what you are trying to make me believe is true? "

Almost every news item on terrorism is presented in this manner, as was the Epstein story. And it's been exactly the same with this Coronavirus outbreak.
