I thought the bames would be first in due to the so called over representation of them dying due to the virus
You.work there stainsie
Is there not any valid concerns about long term effects due to being guinea pigs for a trial vaccine

I dunno if it was discussed in here earlier but seems a lot of BAME folk are quite untrusting of the vaccine.
Spoke to my Mrs about this and she reckons, historically, it’s been that way for years with people of the community citing things like the Tuskegee syphalis study, which was pretty horrific.
I have heard anecdotally of quite a few nurses, Drs and even Consultants who have refused the vaccine. In the LAS it seems to me that most have had it, or are in the process of getting it.

A number of the Islamic faith see no point in the vaccine when they have Allah to protect them. Crazy

Faith is a funny thing

I worked with one of the most eminent scientists in the world. Who was so analytical in their analysis that it was torture showing them your results because their sharp mind would tear you apart.

However they were a staunch Catholic, and would take no safety precautions at all in the lab or in life itself because God would take care of them whilst God had a purpose for them.

Never understood that...but they are still alive...still working and in their late 70s...so they were probably right

Just that you’re completely divorced from reality due to your devotion to this demonstrably dismal government. I can’t honestly be bothered to have a row about it.
You mean once again you can’t answer it? 20+m vaccinated here you never seem to complement that.
meanwhile
surprise surprise France and Germany have both unturned on the Astra vaccine and now apparently it is okay to use in over 65’s. Great work.

The only comment on this forum more frequently said than praising the vaccine rollout is right wingers bemoaning the lack of praise for the vaccine rollout.

Not really. I see many posters like myself who say the government has made mistakes. However there are always some who hate to see them doing well. The usual suspects. Funny anything they do wrong and the usual suspects all like the posts. As soon as it's something encouraging they go missing? I don't care anyway as the roll out has been top notch.

One day you might even acknowledge the role they played in making millions in return for tens of thousands of totally avoidable deaths.

I agree they probably added to some deaths but not the 100k you and Swampy keep banging out.
Anyway good news that data showing 80% chance of avoiding hospital after just the first jab in over 70’s I bet Macron and Merkel are kicking themselves tonight. All those unnecessary deaths for scaring people and talking utter crap.

Japan has asked China to stop taking anal swab tests for Covid-19 on its citizens when they enter the country.

Some have complained that the procedure caused them "psychological distress", officials say.

China, which has largely brought the virus under control, started carrying out anal swabs in January.

Last week, it denied it had required US diplomats to undergo such tests after US media reported some had complained about the procedure.

"Some Japanese reported to our embassy in China that they received anal swab tests, which caused great psychological pain," Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said.

It was not known how many Japanese citizens received such tests, he added.

The tests are used on some of those quarantined or entering China, he also said, noting their use "has not been confirmed anywhere else in the world".

China had not so far responded to the request, he said, adding that the Japanese government had made the request through the embassy in Beijing.

Some Chinese cities have introduced anal swabs, with local experts claiming they can "increase the detection rate of infected people".

At the time of their launch, state media reported those tests had been "controversial among experts", and that they were far less efficient than tests in the upper respiratory tracts.

The existing tests were preferred, as they believe most people contract the virus orally, they said.

The tests involve inserting a cotton swab 3-5cm (1.2-2.0 inches) into the anus and gently rotating it.
